Marty Scurll def. Jay WhiteScurll is so damn great that I still question why Ring of Honor bothered to take the World Television Championship off of him a few months ago. Even though he's no longer the champion, he's continuing to kill it against everyone he faces and White (who is an equally exceptional talent) was no different. They put together an awesome opening match that featured plenty of back-and-forth action and kept the crowd's attention from start to finish. Scurll resorting to dirty tactics to win fits well within his "Villain" persona, but it also gives me hope we'll see a rematch from them eventually. The Dawgs def. The Tempura BoyzYes, "The Dawgs" is the actual team name apparently for Rhett Titus and Will Ferrara. I've heard some dumb tag teams over the years, but that one comes close to leading the list. And no, the true "Big Dawg" Roman Reigns is not a part of it. In all seriousness, this was a nice little match to get over the new duo of Titus and Ferrara. The Tempura Boyz looked much more competitive than I have ever seen them and I hope we see more of them in the future. Mark Briscoe def. Shane Taylor, Chuckie T. and Punishment Martinez in a ROH World Television No. 1 Contender's a Four Corners Survival MatchI guess ROH will be referring to Chuck Taylor as Chuckie T. going forward because we already have a Taylor on the roster, who just so happened to be in this match as well. At any rate, this was a fun four-way with everyone being given their time to shine at one point or another. Mark is a logical next challenger for Kenny King, though it appears the Briscoe brothers might be teasing tension and start feuding soon based off what we saw afterward with Jay confronting Mark about potentially breaking off into singles competition. Overall ShowIn addition to the matches, The Addiction and Jay Lethal cut pre-taped promos on each other backstage, seemingly indicating that they'll be feuding going forward (which I'm in full favor of). The matches themselves were all entertaining and served a purpose, making this a strong show on the whole. Considering I'll be in attendance for Final Battle in December, I'm looking forward to the card coming together in the upcoming weeks.
