The Don Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita) def. Tomohiro Ishii and Powerhouse HobbsThis reminded me of two things: Hobbs continues to feud with The Don Callis Family and that he isn't in the men's Owen Hart Cup this year. Neither of those things are good. Why wouldn't be in there over someone like Mark Briscoe, who I don't recall winning many matches as of late (aside from on this show)? This was a solid opener, but it felt random. That said, Fletcher and Takeshita picking up a win ahead of the Owen Hart Cup made sense. Mark Briscoe def. Max CasterLike I mentioned in the previous paragraph, Briscoe rarely wins when it matters most, so this was a necessary victory for him before his men's Owen Hart Cup quarterfinal match. They kept it short and sweet as they should have. As for Caster, his open challenges will continue until Anthony Bowens inevitably returns and gives him his comeuppance. I'm just not sure whether that will be a one-off or a full-fledged feud. Top Flight def. CRUIt's fitting that Lio Rush and Action Andretti have a stupid team name given the stupid jackets they wear to the ring. In all seriousness, they had a quality contest, even though this was a feud I stopped caring about a while ago. AR Fox coming to Top Flight's aid afterward and Nick Wayne then attacking Fox set up the six-man tag team match for the Dynasty Zero Hour pre-show. AEW World Trios Champion Pac def. Cash WheelerDax Harwood faced Wheeler Yuta last week on Collision and Cope faced Claudio Castagnoli on Wednesday's Dynamite, so it was logical for Wheeler to face Pac ahead of the AEW World Trios Championship match at Dynasty. This was actually the least interesting match of the three and I don't know that it needed over 15 minutes, but it was well wrestled as you'd expect in addition to furthering the feud. "Speedball" Mike Bailey def. DralisticoThe build for the AEW International Championship three-way at Dynasty has been rather basic, but I'm sure the in-ring work will speak for itself. This served as a fine showcase for Bailey and it was smart to put him in there with a guy like Dralistico to help him shine. Ricochet sat in on commentary and attacked Bailey afterward, but Kenny Omega didn't show up at all. Julia Hart and ROH Women's World Champion Athena def. Harley Cameron and AEW TBS/NJPW Strong Women's/RevPro Undisputed British Women's Champion Mercedes MoneCameron and Mone teaming up coming off their recent rivalry was fun. I think that's something that can be revisited down the road considering their chemistry together. Cameron has come far enough this year that she didn't feel out of place here with the three former/current champions and it was an enjoyable main event. I wish the interaction between Athena and Mone was more limited before they eventually go one-on-one, but that's merely nitpicking. Overall ShowThere was also a pre-taped sit-down interview on this show with Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole to hype their AEW TNT Championship match at Dynasty and I thought that was strong stuff. The rest of the show did a decent job of building toward the pay-per-view, so I appreciated that this wasn't an inconsequential episode. It was far from must-see, but if you tuned in live, it was a perfectly acceptable way to spend two hours.
