Orange Cassidy def. Roderick Strong in a Continental Classic Blue League Match

We've seen at least two other matches from these guys dating back to last year and they've obviously proven they work well together. What made this encounter slightly more interesting was that they're both in The Conglomeration now, even though they didn't tease tension or anything. It was the quality contest you'd expect. It's apparent that Strong's just in this thing to have great matches and eat losses.

Bang Bang Gang Confronted AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR

We saw the same sort of segment from these teams on the Thanksgiving edition of Collision, but it was still solid and accomplished what it needed to as far as building toward their AEW World Tag Team Championship match. They said it'd be in the United Kingdom, but I don't think they said specifically which show it'd be on. Either way, they did a nice job of setting it up here.

Mascara Dorada def. CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli in a Continental Classic Blue League Match (Non-Title)

Castagonli lost to Komander in an upset in last year's Continental Classic, and he lost to another luchador in an upset in this year's installment. What made this extra surprising was that Castagnoli just beat fellow Death Riders member Jon Moxley on Wednesday's Dynamite, but I have no issue with keeping things unpredictable. These two had the well-wrestled match you'd expect and Dorada can challenge for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship coming out of this, too.

Josh Alexander Interrupted Swerve Strickland Before AEW World Trios Champion Katsuyori Shibata Attacked Strickland

Strickland addressed his history with Joe as well as with Page, agreeing to back him up in the tag team match this Wednesday on Dynamite. Alexander interrupted and ran down the little he's done since joining AEW earlier this year, in addition to reminding Strickland that he put Kota Ibushi on the shelf (even though it technically wasn't his fault Ibushi got hurt but he's taking credit for it in storyline), and that Strickland was taken out by Kazuchika Okada back at Forbidden Door. It doesn't make sense that Strickland is going after The Opps instead, but whatever. There was a lot of talking here, but it was necessary to build toward their match on next week's Collision.

AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone def. Leila Grey

Mone just lost her ROH Women's World Television Championship back to Red Velvet at Friday's Final Battle pay-per-view, so it looks like her unraveling is finally beginning. It's about time. The idea was that Grey might upset Mone as well and take her AEW TBS Championship, but that was never going to happen. I appreciated that this wasn't longer than it needed to be.

AEW National Champion Ricochet def. Ace Austin

Ricochet can have a really fun run with the AEW National Championship if he keeps making the rounds having kickass matches with a bunch of different people. Austin hasn't been showcased on his own a ton since joining AEW, but he got to stand out here in the time they were allotted. FTR attacked Austin here before the rest of Bang Bang Gang made the save.

IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita def. Jon Moxley in a Continental Classic Blue League Match (Non-Title)

Moxley lost to Castagnoli on Dynamite and it would have been silly for him to bounce back with a win here, especially if Takeshita is making it to the finals of this tournament as he should. This was an excellent main event with plenty of hard-hitting action. There were no shenanigans and it played out exactly as it should have, leaving me with nothing to complain about personally.

Overall Show

They filled this edition of Collision with three top-notch Continental Classic matches, two championship clashes, and build for upcoming matches on Dynamite and Collision. All of that made for one of the more meaningful editions of Collision in recent memory with zero filler. They packed the two hours with some strong stuff and that's always a formula I can get behind for Collision.
