Kevin Knight Confronted AEW World Champion MJFMJF starting the show was notable because it's rare he ever appears on Collision. That sent the message that this would be an important segment, and it was. We know that MJF will defend against Adam Page at Revolution, but I love that we're getting MJF vs. Knight for the AEW World Championship first on Wednesday's Dynamite. Obviously, Knight won't win, but it's another awesome opportunity for him to shine. The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta, Daniel Garcia, Pac and CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Claudio) def. The Don Callis Family (RPG Vice, Lance Archer and Josh Alexander)I completely forgot that Beretta returned to the ring for the Full Gear Zero Hour pre-show to face Boom & Doom because he hasn't wrestled since, at least until this edition of Collision. This was as well-wrestled as every other match these groups have had over the last month or so, but it was more faction warfare nonsense that didn't interest me in the slightest. It's basically just matches to kill time and nothing more. Tommaso Ciampa def. Jay LethalThis match made it feel like I was watching Ring of Honor in 2014 or 2015. Ciampa's back on the path to regaining the AEW TNT Championship and it's logical to build him back with wins like this. It was a quality contest while it lasted, and although Lethal hasn't meant anything in ages, I didn't mind this getting some time given everything Lethal has accomplished in the past. The Brawling Birds def. Gypsy Mac and Tyra RussameeI maintain The Brawling Birds is a dumb name for a team name, but at least Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor work well together. This was another standard showcase for them as they went over quickly and decisively. They'll be facing The IInspiration on Wednesday's Dynamite, which I like as a little feud in the women's tag team division so they aren't immediately rushed into AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship contention. The Don Callis Family (AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher and AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada) def. Top FlightI assume Okada trying to become besties with Fletcher will add to his growing tension with Konosuke Takeshita since Takeshita and Fletcher have been established as partners in the past. This was a nice match with an expected outcome. Okada and Fletcher's verbal exchange with JetSpeed afterward made it clear that they're coming for the AEW World Trios Championship. Is that really necessary since both of them are already champions? "Timeless" Toni Storm def. Zayda SteelSteel has been a babyface since joining Top Flight, so it was weird to see her in there with a massive fan favorite in Storm, but I'm just glad she got some television time on Collision. She's a promising prospect and will only improve with the more matches she has. Marina Shafir attacked Storm afterward to further that feud, and we also got the reveal of Wheeler Yuta's bald head. The crowd popped for that and everything else was serviceable. Thunder Rosa and Kris Statlander def. Sisters of SinRosa and Statlander joined forces because they have common enemies in Triangle of Madness, but as Statlander continues to embrace her darker side again, her turning on Rosa feels inevitable. I know, another heel turn for Statlander so soon after she turned back babyface would be premature, but I just get the sense it's coming. As for this match, it was well wrestled and gave Rosa a victory before she battles Thekla for the AEW Women's World Championship on Wednesday's Dynamite in her native Texas. Andrade El Idolo def. Tomohiro IshiiI'm not sure why this was positioned as the main event since the outcome was never in doubt and I couldn't tell you the last important match in AEW Ishii won on his own. Despite all of that, this was good and I can't complain about Andrade getting the main event spotlight. Hopefully there's a shot at the AEW World Championship coming his way eventually and this was another step in the right direction for him. Overall ShowCollision has put together a solid string of shows as of late, including this edition. Yes, Andrade vs. Ishii in the main event was random, but the action was enjoyable and I can say the same about the rest of the show. We got the usual buildup for Wednesday's Dynamite and the opening segment was the main highlight for me. Important developments like that on Collision are always appreciated.
