Paragon (AEW TNT Champion Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong) def. The Don Callis Family (RPG Vice and Kyle Fletcher)With Cole and Fletcher facing off again for the AEW TNT Championship at All In, this was designed to be a preview of that, and it was a nice match. No, it wasn't drastically different than any other six-man tag team match AEW has done recently, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless. Cole winning for his team makes me even more confident that Fletcher is taking that title on Saturday as he should. Mistico def. The Beast MortosMistico comes off like a total star in AEW. I'm glad he was officially announced for the men's Casino Gauntlet match so that it's guaranteed he'll interact with MJF (who cut a promo on Mistico from the big screen after this) at some point. As you'd expect, this was a really fun sprint from these two. Both of them are a treat to watch, so I had no issue with this lasting longer than your average squash even though it was obvious who was winning. The Death Riders Addressed "Hangman" Adam PageThis followed a fantastic segment backstage where Page refused to do an interview with Renee Paquette and instead walked into Swerve Strickland's locker room where they hashed out their problems with each other. They aren't best friends or anything, but it was a significant step toward them getting on the same page. It was spectacular storytelling, and the quick follow-up promo from Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir at ringside (not even in the ring) was well done. All of this actually made me more excited for the All In main event than I already was. JetSpeed and The Outrunners def. FTR and The Patriarchy (Christian Cage and ROH World Television Champion Nick Wayne)Much like the opener, this was a logical match to do with JetSpeed and The Patriarchy both vying for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All In. FTR and The Outrunners have been feuding as of late as well and it was established that they'll have a rematch on the All In Zero Hour pre-show. This was a hot match that was given plenty of time. JetSpeed needing this win more than anyone else involved after all the beatdowns they've taken in the last month. Gabe Kidd def. AEW World Trios Champion Katsuyori ShibataThis was billed as Teacher vs. Student. I actually wasn't aware of their history, but the commentators caught me up on it. The match itself was good, albeit nothing too special. The key was giving Kidd a win before he, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta challenge The Opps for the AEW World Trios Championship on Saturday. Kidd has barely been around since before Double or Nothing, so this was a necessary victory for him. Willow Nightingale, Mina Shirakawa, Thunder Rosa and Queen Aminata def. Julia Hart, Megan Bayne, Thekla and ROH Women's World Champion AthenaFor those keeping track, this was the third "All-Star" eight-woman tag team match we've gotten in the last two weeks on Collision featuring a lot of the same women. I understand this was designed to hype the women's Casino Gauntlet match at All In and further a few feuds simultaneously, but it's the law of diminishing returns when you run the same match several weeks in a row and expect it to have the same effect. There was nothing wrong with it from an in-ring standpoint, and I liked seeing the women spotlighted in the main event again, but the outcome was irrelevant because all of them have traded wins as of late. Overall ShowCollision has clearly seen an uptick in quality this past month and this was one of the best editions in recent memory. I honestly expected the opposite with the pay-per-view coming up on Saturday, but they instead put forth a strong effort, properly hyped up the event and announced a few more matches. I can't recommend the Page and Strickland segment enough for those who missed it.
