Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford Attacked AEW Women's World Champion "Timeless" Toni StormProps to AEW for making this Bayne vs. Storm storyline the best thing going into Dynasty. Bayne has been built up perfectly and Storm is obviously a massive fan favorite. Storm cut her usual quality promo before being brutally attacked by Bayne and Ford. I'm not really sure what role Ford is supposed to have if she's not doing the talking for Bayne, but otherwise, this was well done and a strong start to the show. Jay White def. Kevin KnightWhether it's been New Japan Pro-Wrestling, TNA, MLW or Ring of Honor, Knight has been impressive any time I've seen him in action. This was no exception, and apparently he was impressive enough that he earned himself an AEW contract, per Tony Khan on X. That's terrific news and hopefully he won't get lost in the shuffle. This was a very fun match that allowed White to maintain momentum heading into the men's Owen Hart Cup (which we still don't have a start date for, but the brackets will be revealed on Dynamite this coming Wednesday). AEW TBS/NJPW Strong Women/RevPro Undisputed British Women's Champion Mercedes Mone def. Robyn Renegade (Non-Title)Mone vs. Renegade was a glorified showcase for Mone, but it's interesting that Renegade was Mone's opponent because it has long been rumored that Mone wants some sort of stable with The Renegade Twins. Mone praising Renegade in her post-match promo might be what sets that up. Of course, the big news here (along with Mone declaring herself for the women's Owen Hart Cup) was Athena finally returning from ROH's witness protection program and taking out Mone before challenging her in a backstage segment later in the show. It's about damn time Athena resurfaced on AEW TV and I'm really looking forward to this feud. Big Bill and Bryan Keith def. Top FlightI was wondering why Top Flight picked up a random win on Wednesday's Dynamite (outside of the episode emanating from their home state of Minnesota) and now we know why. Bill and Keith made it clear on that show that they're next up for AEW World Tag Team Champions The Hurt Syndicate, so this basically made them the new number one contenders. This was a nice match, even if the outcome was expected. Lio Rush and Action Andretti attacked Top Flight afterward to further that feud (for anyone who cares). AEW TNT Champion Daniel Garcia and Adam Cole Agreed to an AEW TNT Championship Rematch at DynastyIf you don't watch Collision consistently, you probably think Garcia's AEW TNT Championship reign has been a total afterthought. In reality, he and Cole have had a great television feud over the TNT title and I like that it's going to culminate in a match without a time limit and with everyone barred from ringside at Dynasty. This was a solid segment to make that matchup official and I'm glad they got some mic work to announce it as opposed to doing so in a quick graphic. AEW World Trios Champion Wheeler Yuta def. Dax HarwoodWe found out on Dynamite that it will be Rated FTR vs. The Death Riders for the AEW World Trios Championship at Dynasty, so although this didn't do much for me on paper, it was a logical match to do. It was well wrestled and they told the story that Harwood's frustration continues to grow, hence why he roughed up the referee after losing. The FTR heel turn is imminent. Hologram def. Blake ChristianIt's funny seeing Christian rack up wins on ROH TV yet lose every match he has in AEW. In other words, he was hardly a threat to Hologram here, but they did make the most of the time they had with a good match. Assuming Hologram's lengthy feud with La Faccion Ingobernable is over, he should transition into his next storyline soon to avoid feeling directionless. Jamie Hayter def. Billie StarkzHayter declared herself for the women's Owen Hart Cup earlier in the episode, but I don't think Starkz will be taking part in it to my knowledge unless I missed something. Hayter is currently my pick to win the whole thing so she can challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship at All In (where she returned last year, not to mention she's an England native). While there wasn't anything on the line here, I thought these two had an enjoyable main event with Starkz again looking credible in defeat Overall ShowIt's awesome that the women took center stage on Collision this week. I'm all for AEW featuring the women more prominently on Dynamite (and they've actually done that in recent weeks), but Collision putting more emphasis on the women is pretty cool, too. This was an above-average episode with entertaining action, storyline advancements and some notable announcements. I applaud AEW for making Collision worthwhile most weeks so far this year.
