Daniel Garcia and Nigel Guinness Attacked FTR

This was the official contract signing for the tag team match at Double or Nothing. Everyone played their roles well and Garcia and McGuinness getting the upper hand in the end was the way to go if they end up winning (which they should). I can understand most people not caring about this matchup (especially with the storyline largely playing out on Collision), but I'm looking forward to McGuinness being back in the ring again.

The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita and Roppongi Vice) def. Los Outrunners and ROH World Champion Bandido

Damn, how many multi-man matches with The Don Callis Family are we going to get? This is the problem with having what feels like a million members. I understand wanting them to build momentum, but when they're beating people who lose a lot more than they win on AEW TV, then these wins don't matter much. This was a fun sprint from all involved, but it was no different than most showings The Don Callis Family have had as of late.

AEW TBS Champion and RevPro Undisputed British Women's Champion Mercedes Mone def. Reyna Isis (RevPro Undisputed British Women's Championship Was Not Defended)

I don't know how wise it was for Mone to defend one of her titles before her big match with Jamie Hayter in the finals of the women's Owen Hart Cup at Double or Nothing, but hey, she didn't get hurt, so I suppose it worked out. They built up Isis a bit with a quick vignette, but she still had zero chance of taking the title here. It was a well-worked affair and Isis was impressive.

Kyle Fletcher def. Jay Lethal

I'm not a big fan of Fletcher being cooled off after his awesome Owen Hart Cup semifinal match with Adam Page a few weeks ago. Obviously, it's not intentional, but I wish Tony Khan had something bigger planned for Fletcher so he wasn't just spinning his wheels right now. On the bright side, this was a quality contest from him and Lethal and another win for him. Hopefully his brief back-and-forth with Adam Cole (who was sitting in on commentary for the night) means he'll be targeting the AEW TNT Championship soon.

Paragon (Roderick Strong and Kyle O'Reilly) def. Grizzled Young Veterans

I genuinely forgot Grizzled Young Veterans were still under AEW contract. They'll pop up on ROH TV occasionally, but I couldn't tell you the last time I saw them on either Dynamite or Collision. This was a good match between two talented teams, but it lacked heat because it felt random. We found out later that it existed to give Paragon a win before they and Cole face Takeshita, Fletcher and Josh Alexander in a six-man tag team matchup at Double or Nothing.

Templario, Mascara Dorada and Mistico def. Los Depredadores (Volador Jr., Magnus and Rugido)

The CMLL tag team matches are usually relegated to ROH TV, but this gave them some exposure on Collision for change. It didn't make much of a difference, but the match was perfectly fine for what it was. I'd say this was designed to hype Forbidden Door, but that's not coming up until the end of August, so this just felt out of place on a Double or Nothing go-home show.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey and Komander def. La Faccion Ingobernable (Rush and Dralistico)

La Faccion Ingobernable may no longer be a thing anymore considering that team name was never acknowledged here, nor have we seen The Beast Mortos with them lately. They're basically a dead faction anyway, so oh well. Nonetheless, this was a nice match, but it certainly wasn't worthy of the main event spot. It gave Bailey a win before he challenges Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Continental Championship at Double or Nothing, but that's about it.

Overall Show

I was actually excited about the Double or Nothing card being slightly smaller this year, but then they had to go ahead and announce more matches. Ugh. As for this edition of Collision, it was solid, but by no means is it imperative that you seek out the full two hours before the pay-per-view. The show didn't get cut off by Black Adam this week, so that's a plus.
