AEW Collision Review - May 27, 2026

AEW International Champion Konosuke Takeshita Interrupted Kyle Fletcher

Fletcher did an effective job explaining why he betrayed Takeshita at Double or Nothing and I thought Takeshita showed good fire when he interrupted him. They didn't get physical here, but it's smart to save that for another time. Now the question is whether they face off at Forbidden Door or if the idea is to drag this out until All In, or both. Either way, I'm looking forward to that match.

Will Ospreay and The Death Riders (AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley and Pac) def. The Rascalz (Myron Reed, Zachary Wentz and Dezmond Xavier)

The story is that Ospreay is pretty much buddy-buddy with Death Riders now despite them injuring his neck (in storyline) and attempting to end his career last summer. Okay, sure, whatever. That aside, this was a really fun match as you'd expect given the level of talent involved. They worked a fast pace and Ospreay winning with a submission again was a nice touch.

Andrade El Idolo def. Ace Austin

It's well documented that Austin never wins anything of note in this company, so the outcome felt like a foregone conclusion, but it was the enjoyable outing you'd expect from these two. I can appreciate it being competitive, but Austin can't keep losing whenever it matters most. As for Andrade, he mentioned MJF during a backstage segment on Dynamite, so that match should be coming at some point.

Kris Statlander def. Hikaru Shida in a Lights Out Philly Street Fight

I'm glad this was given the main event spotlight and they deserved it, but they were put in a tough spot in the sense this aired well into the overrun and the crowd was clearly beat. To their credit, though, they had a hell of a Street Fight and it was entertaining. Harley Cameron helping Statlander win was slightly underwhelming, though. It almost looked like she was about to turn on her, but that didn't happen. I wouldn't have had her interfere at all.

Overall Show

Collision will be back to its normal, two-hour timeslot on Saturday, and I assume this episode only happened because Collision was a one-hour block after Dynamite last week and nothing aired that Saturday, so this was basically that second hour. Although the overrun was unnecessary (due to the Dynamite portion running long), this show actually felt like a worthy extension to Dynamite in that it featured some star power and a wild main event.
