AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party Held a Championship Celebration

AEW doesn't often do championship celebrations to my knowledge, but I'm glad we got one for Private Party because they deserved it. Their match with The Young Bucks on Dynamite was excellent, but now it's up to AEW to follow up with them correctly. This didn't give us an indication who will be first up to challenge Private Party, but it was a feel-good segment and a nice way to start the show.

Thunder Rosa def. Harley Cameron in a Day of the Dead Match

Cameron continues to get plenty of television exposure, and to her credit, she's making the most of it, even though she's not my cup of tea, personally. The stipulation was fitting with it actually being Day of the Dead, even though it was basically your standard brawl. Rosa (whose gear looked awesome) hasn't been doing a whole lot since her feud with Deonna Purrazzo ended months ago, so this helped her get back on track.

Kyle Fletcher def. Komander

Well, this came out of nowhere as a total banger. Komander has always been utilized as a stepping stone in AEW and that's fine, but I expected this to be a straightforward showcase for Fletcher, not a competitive contest. Yes, Fletcher should be winning quickly and decisively before he faces Will Ospreay soon to make him look like more of a threat, but this was a super fun outing and the crowd ate up everything they did. Mark Davis confronted Fletcher afterward.

The Don Callis Family (ROH World Television Champion Brian Cage and Lance Archer) def. Shaun Smith and Joe Keys

Cage and Archer have had a few matches as a team in recent weeks (including one on Dynamite a week ago), so it's clear Tony Khan is high on the pairing and that they might be headed toward the AEW World Tag Team Championship soon. First, they'll have to go through Undisputed Kingdom, who confronted them afterward. This was a simple squash for the monster heels.

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley Addressed the Audience; AEW World Trios Champion Pac def. Action Andretti

Moxley cutting his promo from the crowd was a cool touch. He talked about Orange Cassidy being from Philadelphia, which is where this show emanated from. Andretti then emerged in the ring, leading to an impromptu match between him and Pac. They had a well-worked match, but I don't think it needed to last as long as it did. Cassidy addressed Wheeler Yuta in a post-match promo, so it looks like we'll get that matchup soon on Dynamite before Cassidy seemingly challenges Moxley at Full Gear.

Lio Rush def. Ariya Daivari

Rush just lost to Komander in the main event of Rampage, so this allowed him to bounce back. Unfortunately, Daivari is one of the biggest jobbers on the roster, so beating him means next to nothing. Honestly, I have no idea why this even existed. It would have been better to save this for next week's Rampage as it felt out of place on Collision, unless Rush has another notable match coming up on Dynamite.

Roderick Strong def. Shane Taylor

Just as I suspected, Strong will be having most of his matches on Rampage and Collision while Adam Cole wrestles on Dynamite. That pretty much confirms Cole will be facing MJF at Full Gear, only after beating Strong in their third match. Anyway, this was quite the hard-hitting affair between Strong and Taylor. I appreciated that it got some time, but it's a bummer the finish looked botched.

AEW Women's World Champion Mariah May def. Anna Jay

May and Jay have developed quality chemistry in their past two matches together. This was another entertaining encounter from them, and although I expected May to retain, Jay was made to look credible in defeat. Plus, positioning it as the main event made it feel more important. Is Mina Shirakawa going to return soon so she can challenge May for the title?

Overall Show

Collision is often an inconsequential show, but this was an above-average episode, largely thanks to the appearances of Moxley and Cassidy that furthered their feud ahead of Full Gear. We also got a thumbs-up main event for the AEW Women's World Championship and a gem of a match between Fletcher and Komander, so while the rest of the show was the usual mixed bag, there were enough highlights to where I didn't feel like I had wasted two hours when it was over.
