House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King and Buddy Matthews) def. Iron Savages (Jacked Jameson, Boulder and Bronson)Black and Matthews are coming off losses to Adam Cole on the last two episodes of Dynamite, so I understand wanting to give them a quick rebound win here (despite how insufferable Iron Savages are). FTR emerged afterward to cut a quick promo on House of Black, who they'll be facing in a Full Gear 4-Way Contenders Series match on Wednesday's Dynamite. That could honestly go either way, but I see FTR advancing. The Outrunners def. Top Flight in a Full Gear 4-Way Contenders Series MatchAs talented as Top Flight are, The Outrunners are so over right now that it would've been ridiculous to not put them in the four-way match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at Full Gear. At this point, I've given up on AEW ever doing anything meaningful with Top Flight, but at least they can always be counted on for a quality contest, which is what this was. Roderick Strong def. The Beast MortosStrong and Mortos have some history as allies, but not enough for me to truly care about this match. Don't get me wrong, they had a well-wrestled affair, but it was obvious Strong would win since he and Adam Cole need three wins each so they can face MJF at Full Gear. Most people expected them to face each other in their third matchup, but Cole will take on Konosuke Takeshita instead on Wednesday's Dynamite. Kris Statlander def. Ashley VoxI recognized Vox from the time she spent in the NWA years ago. I believe she also may have had a few matches in MLW. However, this wasn't about her, as Statlander beat her rather quickly to establish herself as a threat. Post-match, Mercedes Mone attacked her to get the upper hand ahead of their AEW TBS Championship clash at Full Gear. Their feud has been lackluster, but I'm sure the match itself will deliver. AEW TNT Champion Jack Perry def. Action AndrettiThis was billed as an "open challenge," even though Andretti was advertised as Perry's opponent beforehand. This match may have made sense two years when Andretti upset Chris Jericho on the Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite, but not in 2024 when Andretti isn't much of a threat. As a match, this was decent, but the focus was more so on the post-match exchange between Perry and Daniel Garcia that set up their AEW TNT Championship matchup for Full Gear. Nick Wayne def. AR FoxOn one hand, it was cool that this was revisited after what Fox and Swerve Strickland did to Wayne in the summer of 2023 with the roles reversed this time. On the other hand, this felt like a random match to do when it doesn't appear Wayne is being built up for anything significant anytime soon. He and Fox had an enjoyable outing and made the made of the time they had, but there was zero question who was going over. AEW World Trios Champions The Death Riders (Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli and Pac) def. The Conglomeration (Kyle O'Reilly, Mark Briscoe and Tomohiro Ishii)Finally! Jon Moxley's crew has a new name, and it's actually pretty badass. That will make it a lot easier for me to identify them in my reviews. At any rate, this was good stuff, which wasn't at all surprising given the level of talent involved. They picked up the pace after a slow start and produced a fun second half. The post-match brawl between the factions was more of the same, but it did close the show on a chaotic note. Overall ShowThis was a slightly-above-average edition of Collision, largely because it felt like there was more of a concerted effort to hype Full Gear in two weeks. The main event was somewhat notable because of its star power and a majority of the other matches served a purpose. There was the usual solid wrestling, but there needs to be more than that to make Collision worthwhile and thankfully we got that this week.
