Jay White def. Shane TaylorI couldn't tell you a single meaningful match Taylor has ever won on his own on AEW TV, which makes it difficult to see him as a threat to anyone he faces, but I can't complain too much because his matches tend to deliver. This was an enjoyable opener with White picking up the clean victory. He called out Adam Page for Full Gear afterward, so I'm sure that match will soon be made official. Penelope Ford def. Robyn RenegadeThis marked Ford's first match since February 2023. It's been announced she'll be facing Jamie Hayter on the November 6th edition of Dynamite, so this was designed to be a warm-up of sorts for her before then. However, it wasn't booked as a straightforward squash. Renegade scored more offense than she needed to and it didn't make for the most interesting match. Hayter's post-match comments on the big screen were pretty basic. The Outrunners def. MxM CollectionI don't think this match needed as much time as it did, especially since most of it consisted of stupid shenanigans, but the crowd certainly didn't mind as they were behind The Outrunners throughout. They've really gotten over as fan favorites, so I'm glad they went over here. MxM Collection have settled in their expected role as an enhancement team as that's their ceiling with this gimmick. Ricochet def. Lio RushIf you wanted an entertaining spot-fest from these two, you got it. That's not all Ricochet is going to bring to AEW, but it's what many fans expected, so there's nothing wrong with giving them what they want to see once in a while. This was fun stuff and Rush had a chance to shine. Ricochet continues to rack up wins as his sights remain on earning another opportunity at the AEW International Championship. Anna Jay def. Viva VanIt was already confirmed that, after beating Mariah May in an Eliminator match at Battle of the Belts XII, Jay will challenge May for the AEW Women's World Championship on next week's Collision, so this gave her a momentum-boosting win before then. The only issue is, it took Jay almost as long to beat Van as it did to beat May. Similar to Kamille vs. Queen Aminata on Wednesday's Dynamite, this did not need to a competitive contest, even though it was decent. May's pre-taped promo was honestly much better. FTR def. La Faccion Ingobernable (Dralistico and Rush)Put two talented teams together and you'll get a great match. It's a formula that never fails. LFI just joined forces with Jake Roberts a few weeks ago, so it wasn't ideal for them to be losing at this stage, especially with The Beast Mortos in their corner. They attempted to attack FTR afterward before The Outrunners made the save. I get the feeling this will lead to FTR turning on The Outrunners out of jealousy because I don't know what the endgame is otherwise. Overall ShowThere was a little less to Collision this week than usual, but I had no issue with that whatsoever. It made for a cleaner format with more matches that mattered. I particularly liked White vs. Taylor, Ricochet vs. Rush and the main event, so this show gets a thumbs-up from me. Collision still doesn't feel like consequential television most weeks, but this edition was an improvement.
