AEW TNT Champion Darby Allin def. Myron ReedI couldn't tell you the last time Reed won a match on his own, so while it was random that he'd get a title shot, I'm glad we got this since it was such a fun opener and they worked well together. That spot with Reed crashing through the chair on the outside was especially insane. Allin and Steven Borden cutting promos afterward about their upcoming AEW World Tag Team Championship number one contender's match against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight at All Out was a nice touch. Artist of Stardom Champion Thekla def. Zayda SteelWillow Nightingale, who Thekla will be facing in an AEW Women's World Championship number one contender's match at All Out, sat in on commentary. The outcome was never in doubt here, but much like in previous outings Steel has had on AEW TV this year, I appreciated that she scored as much offense as she did before losing. She'll be one to watch. This was a quality contest. Pac def. Adam PriestIt was announced a little later on that Pac will challenge Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at All Out, so that's why this existed. To his credit, Priest makes the most of every opportunity he's given, so this was a well-worked match, but this was all about Pac and giving him a momentum boost. It would have been unnecessary for this to last longer than it did. AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo def. Daniel GarciaUnlike the opener, this actually made sense since Garcia won that Battle Royal in memory of The Butcher in the main event of last week's Collision. Granted, I never thought he had a chance of taking the title here, but it was a very good match up until the ending. What the hell happened that caused the referee to count to three when Andrade was being pinned? That was pretty badly botched. Anyway, as previously mentioned, Andrade vs. Pac is official for All Out, per The Death Riders' attack on Andrade and Francesco Akira. "Speedball" Mike Bailey def. Wheeler YutaThis felt like an inconsequential match since Bailey isn't actively feuding with Death Riders to my knowledge (and if he is, it hasn't been interesting). I thought it might play into Bang Bang Gang vs. Death Riders and The Dogs on the Tailgate Brawl pre-show for All Out based on the post-match angle, but according to the graphic, Bailey won't be involved (it will be Yuta, Garcia, David Finlay and Clark Connors vs. Jay White, Ace Austin and The Gunns). Strange. This was solid, but you'd think Yuta would've faced one of his All Out opponents instead. Queen Aminata and Mina Shirakawa def. Georgia South and Emily JayeAminata and Shirakawa went one-on-one on last week's Collision, so they were back to teaming here. I have to imagine Aminata is being built up for an opportunity at the AEW Women's World Championship since Mercedes Mone sat in on commentary for that match, not to mention Aminata picked up the win in this bout as well. It was the straightforward squash it should have been. AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley def. Zachary Wentz in an AEW Continental Championship Eliminator MatchI know Moxley is challenging Will Ospreay for the AEW World Championship at All Out, but this was a weird match to close out the episode with because it was impossible to imagine that Wentz was going to win. Don't get me wrong, this was well wrestled and whatnot, but it definitely didn't need to be the main event. On the bright side, it wasn't unnecessarily competitive, but in that case, why put this on last? Overall ShowThis was your average edition of Collision where nothing notable happened, yet it featured some star power, build for All Out, two title matches and entertaining action on the whole. It wasn't appointment viewing in the slightest, but the two hours were perfectly serviceable and had enough stuff to keep me invested. I will say that the one thing this show lacked was a standout match worth seeking out.
