Tony Schiavone Interviewed Jon MoxleyMoxley's been off AEW TV since losing the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Forbidden Door two months ago, so him returning to kick off Dynamite was a cool surprise. He kept it short and sweet by calling out Darby Allin and telling Schiavone that this company doesn't belong to him anymore, which I assume was directed toward Tony Khan. We've seen Moxley vs. Allin a bunch of times in AEW, but I'm glad Moxley's back and this was an intriguing development. "Hangman" Adam Page def. Tomohiro IshiiIt was weird for Page to go from interfering in the All In main event to having a match with someone he has no issue with, but to their credit, they had a hell of a hard-hitting, enjoyable affair. This was a win Page desperately needed. Post-match, Swerve Strickland confronted Page and they made their match official for All Out, which will be contested inside of a steel cage. This is the perfect direction for Strickland to go in immediately following his loss of the AEW World Championship. Jamie Hayter def. Harley CameronThey aired the footage of Hayter's last match at Double or Nothing 2023 where she was taken out by The Outcasts. She obviously wants revenge on Saraya, but will she eventually target Toni Storm as well since Storm was a member of the group at that time? This was a standard squash for Hayter and thankfully wasn't competitive. There's a lot to like in the women's division right now, so Hayter's return couldn't have been better timed. Daniel Garcia Attacked MJFMJF denouncing his American citizenship puts an end to his short-lived American hero shtick. That's logical considering he lost the AEW American/International Championship back to Will Ospreay. He did say he would cost Ospreay the world title once he came close to winning it and I can totally see him going back to that down the road. The MJF and Garcia brawl went on a little long, but Garcia showed awesome fire during his promo challenging MJF to a match at All Out. FTW Champion Hook and The Conglomeration (ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe, Kyle O'Reilly and Orange Cassidy) def. Roderick Strong, "The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho, Big Bill and Bryan KeithLike most people, I groaned when I saw Khan announce this match on social media on Tuesday. He added that fans needed to trust me, so I had a shred of faith that we'd see Bill completely decimate Jericho after this was over. Sadly, that did not happen. The actual match was good yet overly lengthy. The Undisputed Kingdom laying out Hook afterward indicates Strong has his sights set on the FTW Championship, for anyone who cares. Tony Schiavone Interviewed AEW Women's World Champion Mariah MayYes, I'm aware of the comments May made in an interview prior to All In where she said that she'd celebrate her title win by her pool and no bikini, so that's probably what a certain segment of fans were hoping for from her celebration here. Hey, she was wearing lingerie, so there was that. In all seriousness, this was a solid first promo from May as champ. She came off extremely well and saved her formal championship celebration for another time. I assume Toni Storm will crash it to set up a rematch between the two. Ricochet def. Kyle FletcherSaving this for the "main event" was a smart call to make it feel like a big deal. From what I've seen of him so far in AEW, he still very much feels like the Ricochet from WWE. That's not at all a bad thing, but some fans were speculating that he was holding back in WWE and that he'd be able to go all out in AEW. I assume we'll see when he faces Will Ospreay at some point, which was teased afterward. Nonetheless, this was a fun match and a nice first win for Ricochet. AEW TNT Champion Jack Perry Attacked AEW World Champion Bryan DanielsonIt was teased coming into this segment that Danielson might retire as champion, but you had to know he would wait until he was beaten for the belt. I maintain that he'll lose it at WrestleDream in his home state, possibly back to Strickland, but I wasn't sure who he'd face at All Out if not Christian Cage (who earned a future title shot by winning the Casino Gauntlet match at All In). Honestly, I'm fine with Perry being his opponent considering Perry pinned him back at Double or Nothing. The crowd didn't sound too enthused, but I have no doubt they'll deliver. Overall ShowAdmittedly, I had higher hopes for this show coming off the strong All In pay-per-view. There was a lot going on, but the first hour was better than the second hour. The crowd being quiet at various points didn't help. With all of that said, AEW has done an effective job of setting the stage for what should be a great All Out card despite the quick turnaround. Multiple matches have been announced, so this edition of Dynamite was successful at following up on All In and building toward what's next.
