AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley def. El Clon in an AEW Continental Championship Eliminator MatchMoxley and the rest of The Death Riders running through The Don Callis Family has not been interesting in that slightest. That includes El Clon, who has hardly felt like a threat since he debuted a few months ago. To their credit, they had a good, well-wrestled opener, but it felt like more of the same from Moxley. With any luck, he'll lose the Continental title to Konosuke Takeshita at Revolution. Swerve Strickland Explained His ActionsOkay, so Strickland didn't completely explain his heel turn from last week, but he made it clear that he no longer has regrets for what he's done. This did an effective job of recapping his attack on Omega and establishing that he's coming for the AEW World Championship. Strickland is in his element as a heel, so I'm looking forward to him continuing to kill it. Gabe Kidd def. Orange CassidyTo my knowledge, Kidd is still under contract to New Japan Pro-Wrestling, but all of his appearances in AEW over the last year have to mean he'll be heading there full-time soon, right? Unless he's already under some sort of dual contract with the two companies? Either way, they're clearly building to a rematch between him and Darby Allin (even though their Worlds End match was enough for me, personally), so it made sense to give Kidd the win here. He and Cassidy had a nice match and the post-match chaos hinted at Cassidy teaming with Allin to take on Kidd and Clark Connors. AEW World Trios Champion Kevin Knight def. MansoorKnight vs. The Beast Mortos actually served a purpose last week because Jet Speed Rodeo would've given La Faccion Ingobernable a shot at the AEW World Trios Championship had Mortos won. That wasn't the case here with this "standby" match, but at least it was a squash that was kept short and sweet. The focus was more so on Knight's post-match promo where he teased vying for the AEW World Championship if Adam Page takes the title from MJF. AEW World Champion MJF vs. AEW World Trios Champion "Hangman" Adam Page in a Texas Death Match Was Made Official for RevolutionThis was an extension of their face-off from last week, except it wasn't as strong of a segment. Page wanted a Texas Death match, MJF didn't, and yet it was made official anyway because MJF used a double-sided coin. The logic and execution were a bit flawed, but whatever. The Texas Death match stipulation has been done to death (no pun intended), but Page never again challenging for the title if he loses is certainly intriguing. AEW Women's World Tag Team Champions The Babes of Wrath def. MegaBad by DisqualificationThe match was decent, but the disqualification finish sucked. They must have had to call an audible because Penelope Ford got injured. Otherwise, this was lame. Hopefully Ford isn't too hurt because she just returned to the ring not too long ago. This does feel more like it's about Megan Bayne coming for the AEW TBS Championship than MegaBad winning the AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship. Brody King def. Mark DavisAnother week, another match for Davis. Nothing against the guy personally, but he's featured so frequently despite being boring as a character. He also constantly loses and that doesn't help, either. Nonetheless, this was the hard-hitting affair you'd expect from these two, and it successfully gave King a rebound win before he battles Strickland at Revolution (as teased afterward). Jack Perry, The Young Bucks and The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz) def. The Demand (AEW National Champion Ricochet and GOA) and AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR in a Mile High Madness Anything Goes MatchThis stemmed from the chaotic angle that closed out last Saturday's Collision. I had no idea what the stipulation would entail exactly when it was announced, but it quickly became apparently once it got underway that it would basically be another version of Anarchy in the Arena. Personally, I'm no fan of Anarchy in the Arena, so this wasn't my cup of tea, but it had its moments and the crowd was into all of it. Perry pinning Ricochet sets him up for yet another opportunity at the AEW National Championship, but I have zero desire to see them face off for a third time. Overall ShowI didn't love last week's show as much as most people did, but it had a hell of a main event and a standout segment with Page and MJF. This week didn't have those same highs, but I did think this episode was better balanced on the whole. Some stuff was just kind of there, but the more important segments and matches delivered. Revolution is shaping up to be a can't-miss event.
