The Don Callis Family (Konosuke Takeshita, Josh Alexander and El Clon) def. The Death Riders (Daniel Garcia, Pac and AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley)As I've said before, I can't bring myself to care about this feud. Don Callis Family are fine, but Death Riders have never been interesting and I have no idea whether fans are supposed to be cheering them or not. I assume the answer is yes in this case, but then you have Wheeler Yuta and Marina Shafir acting like heels while working with Orange Cassidy and Toni Storm. It's confusing. Nonetheless, this was a well-wrestled opener. Takeshita winning for his team made sense before he challenges Moxley for the AEW Continental Championship at Grand Slam: Australia. Orange Cassidy and "Timeless" Toni Storm def. Jordan Oasis and Brittnie BrooksBrooks is definitely one to watch on the independent scene. In addition to be skilled in the ring, she has a certain charisma about her that makes her stand out, so hopefully she'll continue to get opportunities on bigger stages. The match itself was a standard squash for Cassidy and Storm before they face Yuta and Shafir at Grand Slam: Australia where whoever gets pinned will have their head shaved. The post-match promos from Cassidy and Storm here were a little too goofy for my liking, but the crowd seemed to enjoy it. AEW World Trios Champion "Hangman" Adam Page def. Mark Davis to Advance to the AEW World Championship No. 1 Contender's Match at Grand Slam: AustraliaI must have misunderstood what was said last week because I thought Kenny Omega vs. Andrade El Idolo on this show would be the number one contender's match. Obviously not. It doesn't quite seem fair that Andrade had to go through two people while Page only had to beat Davis, but Samoa Joe not being cleared at the moment must have caused a small shift in their plans. This was a good match, but there was no need for it to be as long as it was. I mean, it's Mark Davis we're talking about here. Andrade El Idolo def. Kenny Omega to the AEW World Championship No. 1 Contender's Match at Grand Slam: AustraliaThis actually wasn't the first match these two have had as they originally met for the AAA Mega Championship five years ago when Andrade was last in AEW. I didn't see that bout, but this was great stuff. Omega can clearly still go and Andrade is on a roll right now, so they worked really well together. Andrade winning was a pleasant surprise and he'll now face Page in the number one contender's match at Grand Slam: Australia. MegaBad def. AEW Women's World Tag Team Champions The Babes of Wrath in an AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship Eliminator MatchMegaProblems never formally ended, but with Penelope Ford, she and Megan Bayne are back on track with some wins under their belt. I didn't have an issue with them winning here since it earned them a shot at the tag titles in Australia and it was Harley Cameron who they pinned, not Willow Nightingale. This was a quality contest from the two teams and I expect the rematch to be on the same level. AEW National Champion Ricochet def. Jack PerryRicochet already defeated Perry to retain the NWA National Championship last month, but The Demand putting Luchasaurus on the shelf led to them facing off again. They had another nice outing, but the shenanigans at the end with GOA helping Ricochet retain was lame. I don't care that Perry hasn't given Ricochet his comeuppance because I'm ready for this rivalry to be over and this should be the end of it. Brody King def. AEW World Champion MJF in an AEW World Championship Eliminator MatchWell, King squashing MJF was pretty shocking and I'm not sure how the feel about it. On one hand, I get not wanting to give away the match if they're going to do it again in Australia, not to mention it made King out to look like a total beast. On the other hand, MJF is the world champ and shouldn't be booked like a jabroni. I also didn't love that he passed out to the sleeper hold almost immediately. It will get people talking, so there's that. The post-match chaos was well done as the AEW World Championship scene is stacked heading into Revolution. Overall ShowThe highlight of the night was easily Omega vs. Andrade. Seek out that match when you get a chance. The booking of the main event was notable, for better or for worse, and there was plenty of hype for Grand Slam: Australia, which they're loading up. The AEW World Championship picture is carrying these shows, but at least everything else is at least solid.
