Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega Brawled with The Don Callis FamilyOspreay and Omega clearly have had common enemies in The Don Callis Family, yet Omega told Ospreay here that he didn't trust him because of their past. That's totally understandable and I'm glad they acknowledged their time as rivals, but Omega was quick to forgive him following the brawl, so that felt a bit rushed. The brawl was well done, though, and they set the stage nicely for the tag team match at Grand Slam Australia. The Hurt Syndicate (Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin) def. Private Party to Win the AEW World Tag Team ChampionshipPrivate Party's tag title reign will go down as one of the most uneventful in AEW history. They were barely champs for three months and only had two televised title defenses in that time, not to mention their exposure on Dynamite was nearly nonexistent up until recently. At least AEW is going all in with Hurt Syndicate as there's a lot of juice left there and the fans are behind them (yet they're still portrayed as heels for some reason). This was a good match with the right result. AEW World Trios Champion Claudio Castagnoli Attacked Jeff JarrettAs I've complained about before, I don't understand who this renewed singles push for Jarrett is supposed to be appealing to. He's taking up so much television time and a lot of it feels like a waste. This was another one of those instances. Castagnoli attacked him and accepted Jarrett's challenge to a match next week where Jarrett can earn an AEW World Championship opportunity if he beats Castagnoli. I guess this accomplished what it needed to, but the Jarrett storyline still isn't doing anything for me, personally. Swerve Strickland def. AR FoxIt's matches like this that make me miss Lucha Underground. Obviously, these two have a storied history in both that promotion and AEW. Fox was never going to beat a star on Strickland's level, but he did have a few suspenseful nearfalls down the stretch, especially once Ricochet interfered. It was a fun match while it lasted. Ricochet threatening Prince Nana was a fine way to further that feud. MJF Addressed Jeff Jarrett; "Hangman" Adam Page def. Tyler ShoopMJF came out to cut a promo before Page could make his entrance for his scheduled match, so seeds have been planted for a future feud between Page and MJF. That's honestly exactly what both men need right now. Page squashed the local athlete as he should have, but I don't think his post-match confrontation with Christopher Daniels (where Daniels confirmed that he'll never wrestle again following his Texas Death match loss to Page on Collision) was necessary. The crowd sat on their hands and I don't blame them. Jamie Hayter def. Julia HartThis was a rematch from three weeks ago. Although this rivalry has kept the both of them busy as of late, I can't say it's been overly interesting. However, this was another quality contest from them. In fact, it may have been better than their original encounter despite the quiet crowd. Hayter told Hart afterward she'd be down for a potential third match, but she should set her sights on championship gold before that happens. Cope def. AEW World Trios Champion PacI had higher hopes for this than what we ended up getting. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it did drag and I was bored by a majority of it. Not all of Cope's television matches in AEW have been like that, but much like with his last WWE run, not every match he has needs to be treated like a 20-minute cinematic masterpiece. Shorter and sweeter would've been the better approach. The post-match angle seems to indicate Jay White will be getting the AEW World Championship shot against Jon Moxley at Grand Slam Australia before Cope faces Moxley at Revolution. Overall ShowDynamite was yet again a mixed bag this week. The episode started off well enough with that hot opening brawl and the tag title change, but I'm not at all invested in the AEW World Championship scene at the moment. The problem is, that's dominating a majority of these shows. Hayter vs. Hart and Strickland vs. Fox were both enjoyable, so this edition of Dynamite fell somewhere in the middle for me.
