The Death Riders (CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Claudio Castagnoli and AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley) def. The Don Callis Family (Hechicero and NJPW World Television Champion Konosuke Takeshita)You get a belt, you get a belt, everybody gets a belt! I'm surprised Hechicero doesn't have some a trivial title from a random promotion. I wasn't surprised, however, that he took the pinfall loss for his team. It was a well-wrestled match, but you can throw it into the category of matches between these two factions that I just don't care about. Takeshita vs. Moxley should be great Revolution as it was at Grand Slam: Australia. AEW TNT Champion and AEW World Trios Champion Kyle Fletcher def. "Speedball" Mike BaileyI was looking forward to this as their last match on Dynamite back in December was one of AEW's best television matches all year. I enjoyed that outing slightly more (not to mention it had a better finish), but this was still strong stuff. Kazuchika Okada and Mark Davis helping Fletcher retain was logical, but it made for a lame ending. I would have rather seen this at Revolution than the AEW World Trios Championship match that's being advertised. Brody King def. Jiah JewellThis was yet another "standby" match. King in particular seems to have a lot of these. It's already a tired gimmick, but at least they're kept short and sweet. Swerve Strickland attempted to choke him again afterward, but King broke his chain, attacked him fended him off. It was more simple build for their bout at Revolution and I'm glad King got the better of him this time. The Dogs (Gabe Kidd and David Finlay) def. Darby Allin and Orange CassidyThe Dogs is a dumb name, surely they could come up with something more creative, but whatever. Finlay just joined the group a week ago, so it would have been silly for them to lose their first important match together in AEW. It was a quality contest for the time it was allotted. Roderick Strong returned afterward and teased aligning with The Dogs, only to help Allin and Cassidy fend them off, so the six-man tag team match is official for Revolution. AEW TBS Champion and AEW Women's World Tag Team Champion Willow Nightingale def. CMLL World Women's Champion Persephone (CMLL World Women's Championship Was Not Defended)It wasn't exactly ideal for Persephone to lose (let alone by a roll-up) days after winning the CMLL World Women's Championship from Mercedes Mone, but this was a good spot for her, nonetheless. She had an impressive outing, even though it was obvious she wasn't winning since Nightingale is defending against Lena Kross on the Revolution Zero Hour pre-show. Get Persephone on AEW TV more regularly, please. Tommaso Ciampa and AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR def. Mark Briscoe and The Young BucksI dig the pairing of Ciampa with FTR given their history, and they were terrific foils for the Bucks and Briscoe here. This was the fast-paced affair you'd expect from these six and it was a blast. Ciampa picking up the win for his team was a nice touch. The heels winning does leave me wondering if the Bucks will actually win the AEW World Tag Team Championship on Sunday night. AEW World Champion MJF and "Hangman" Adam Page's Revolution Press Conference Descended Into ChaosTo echo what many others have said, I applaud the attempt to do something different with the press conference, but it just didn't work. It was the weakest part of the show by far. The questions and answers were fine, but the live crowd was clearly bored and it went on for too long. Thankfully, we got a hot brawl between the two that carried over into the ring to close the show. Overall ShowIt's unfortunate that the press conference was saved for the main event segment because it wasn't all that interesting, but they made up for it with the brawl that followed. Everything else on this go-home show was well done and effectively hyped up Revolution for this weekend. The build for the event has largely been top-notch and I hope it's as excellent as it has the potential to be on paper.
