AEW Dynamite Review - March 4, 2026

AEW World Champion MJF def. AEW World Trios Champion Kevin Knight

This was never about Knight actually winning the AEW World Championship as much as it was him getting the opportunity to challenge for it. He's been spotlighted exceptionally well this year and this was another strong showing from him, even in defeat. This received an ample amount of time and served as a hot start to the show, despite the outcome never being in doubt.

Orange Cassidy and Darby Allin def. The Dogs (Clark Connors and Gabe Kidd)

I'm surprised this didn't last longer, especially if they want to establish The Dogs as a dominant force, but what we got was good. Cassidy and Allin definitely didn't need the win, but I'm willing to accept it if the endgame is The Dogs going over now that they've been joined by the debuting David Finlay. I've been impressed by his work in New Japan Pro-Wrestling in recent years and aligning him with Connors and Kidd makes sense given their (War) Dogs ties over there. I just hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

The Brawling Birds def. The IInspiration

Well, this was certainly something. I was in favor of these teams feuding before one of them moved on to challenge for the AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship, and while I fully expect Brawling Birds to get a shot soon, there's no reason for this rivalry to continue considering they outright squashed The IInspiration here. That would be fine if The IInspiration weren't signed, but I believe they are, so this was a pretty poor debut for them if they're going to have any credibility in this company.

AEW World Trios Champion "Hangman" Adam Page def. Marty Snow

Page put Snow away almost immediately. This was more about what came afterward with MJF addressing Page and The Don Callis Family challenging Jet Set Rodeo to an AEW World Trios Championship match later in the night. AEW rarely makes main events official for Dynamite while the show is already in progress, which is why I thought this was a refreshing change of pace and had no issue with it.

AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley def. Hechicero in an AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match

They gave Hechicero new entrance music?! Boo! Okay, putting my anger aside, this was another well-worked match from Moxley. The problem is that him running through members of The Don Callis Family has hardly been interesting. The matches themselves are serviceable, but it's always obvious he's going to win. I can't wait for him to face Konosuke Takeshita again at Revolution simply so we can move past this.

ROH World Champion Bandido Saved Brody King from Swerve Strickland

King vs. Strickland already appeared to be the plan for Revolution, but it was confirmed for the card here. That's a great use of both guys on that show. As for this segment, it wasn't the best executed, as King was came across for a moron for not thinking Strickland could potentially attack him from behind. Otherwise, this accomplished what it needed to, and Strickland's heel work has been top notch.

AEW Women's World Champion Thekla def. Thunder Rosa

It was explained that this would have been the main event had the AEW World Trios Championship match not been added at the last minute. Thekla has been killing it as of late and it's been nice to see Rosa back to being prominently featured in the title picture for the first time in a long time. She had the home state advantage here, but it was safe to assume she wasn't winning. Nonetheless, they had a quality contest, and it looks like Thekla and Kris Statlander will have their rubber match for the title at Revolution.

AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR Confronted Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa has largely been exclusive to Collision since coming to AEW, so I'm glad he was able to make an in-person appearance on Dynamite for a change. He didn't say much before FTR confronted him, playing off their history from WWE NXT a decade ago. It was an intriguing development with FTR in the midst of a feud with The Young Bucks and Ciampa chasing the AEW TNT Championship.

The Don Callis Family (Mark Davis, AEW International Champion Kazuchika Okada and AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher) def. Jet Set Rodeo (JetSpeed and "Hangman" Adam Page) to Win the AEW World Trios Championship​

It was completely ridiculous that this started during the overrun, but whatever. The match was entertaining for as long as as it lasted (and it went for a while). Page didn't need the Trios titles going into his AEW World Championship clash with MJF at Revolution and it was logical for MJF to factor into the finish here. Sure, Knight got pinned twice on the same show, but both were high-profile matches, so it's hard to complain.

Overall Show

Dynamite has mostly been a thumbs-up show this year and I really liked this episode. You can't add last-minute main events every week, but it worked in this case and it made for an eventful end of the night. The rest of the show had a solid flow to it as well. The Revolution card is looking absolutely stacked on paper and, to AEW's credit, the build so far has been well done.
