 AEW TNT Champion Kevin Knight Explained His Actions and Attacked "Speedball" Mike BaileyKnight still has some work to do as far as his mic skills are concerned, but personally speaking, I thought his promo was fine and I appreciated that he explained his betrayal of Allin right away. I also appreciated that he turned on Bailey here instead of dragging that out. I thought their match would be saved for Forbidden Door, but they're actually doing it next week instead. Jericho def. RicochetEveryone was barred from ringside. I didn't enjoy this as much as their original encounter from Dynasty, but it was still solid. Jericho winning decisively finished their feud, and we didn't have to wait long to find out who he'll be working with next as Tommaso Ciampa attacked him afterward. That should be good, if only because it gives Ciampa something significant to do now that he's wrapped up his rivalry with Mark Briscoe. Rush def. Lio Rush, Brian Cage and Orange Cassidy in a Superstation Showcase Four-Way MatchThese random multi-man matches never seem to accomplish anything. Granted, Rush won here and then reemerged to challenge MJF for the AEW World Championship in the subsequent segment, but you could've done that regardless, especially since it wasn't like it was some sort of star-studded match. It was well wrestled, but giving it some stakes or explaining why it was announced would've helped. Mark Briscoe and Rush Crashed MJF's AEW World Championship CelebrationMJF's championship celebration wasn't much different than his other championship celebrations. It was entertaining enough, but it didn't cover any new ground. I know Briscoe stepping up as one of his next challengers (I say "one of" because we found out MJF will first defend against Rush on next week's episode) isn't exactly exciting, but like Briscoe said, it makes sense because he was the last person to beat MJF before MJF took his hiatus at the end of 2025. Brody King def. Claudio Castagnoli in a Men's Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal MatchKing and Castagnoli previously split wins in the Continental Classic (in different years). This was the rubber match. It was a quality contest as you'd expect and King moving on was logical. He's similar to his tag team partner Bandido in that they've been given plenty of opportunities on their own this year and have made the most of all of them but aren't booked to win in more meaningful matches. In other words, King isn't making it past the semifinals. The Dogs Attacked AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian CageSimilar to MJF's championship celebration, there wasn't anything about this I'd classify as being special or memorable, either. Being on the verge of a classic "five-second pose" was cool, but if the idea was to put heat on The Dogs by having them interrupt it and attack them, it didn't work. They've been booked so poorly since they debuted that it's impossible to take them seriously as threats to the AEW World Tag Team Championship. TayMelo def. Anna Everett and Allie KatchOn a two-hour-plus show, it's egregious that this was the only women's match, and it was over pretty much immediately! How did we at least not hear from Thekla, or get a women's Owen Hart Cup quarterfinal match (which they're saving for next week instead)? Ugh. The only purpose this served was attempting to establish TayJay as threats to The Divine Dominion, who also win their squash matches quickly. AEW National Champion Mark Davis def. "Jungle" Jack Perry in a Men's Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal MatchThis was the best match of the three they've had so far. If Davis was winning anyway, they may as well have put the AEW National Championship on the line in addition to it being a quarterfinal matchup. That said, it definitely didn't feel worthy of the main event spot. Davis beat Ospreay by count-out a few weeks ago, so Ospreay will be able to avenge that loss when they run it back in the next round. Overall ShowAfter such a hot pay-per-view, you'd think this would have been a more eventful edition of Dynamite than it was. That isn't to say nothing happened, as we did find out what's next for a number of people, but it never quite reached that next level for me despite kicking off on a high note. For whatever reason, the post-pay-per-view shows are still something AEW struggles with.
