AEW World Tag Team Champions Brodido def. The Gates of AgonyComing out of Forbidden Door, I was hoping Ricochet and Gates of Agony (now collectively known as The Demand) would be gunning for the AEW World Trios Championship, not the AEW World Tag Team Championship. That's not to say I don't want Gates of Agony in the main tag title mix, but this felt abrupt and resulted in an unnecessary loss for them. It's not even as it The Hurt Syndicate cost them the win. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable opener. AEW World Champion "Hangman" Adam Page def. ROH Pure Champion Lee Moriarty (ROH Pure Championship Was Not Defended)This was billed as an open challenge, though Moriarty was announced as Page's opponent before the show even went on the air. Moriarty is a Pittsburgh native, so that's why this made sense. Of course, Moriarty had zero chance of winning, but he looked impressive in defeat. The problem is that's been the case with him since he debuted in AEW four years ago. When is he ever going to be elevated to the next level (in AEW, not Ring of Honor)? Meanwhile, this was a good match, but it didn't feel remotely important. I'm not saying it should have headlined the show, but it should have at least served as the opener. JetSpeed and Willow Nightingale Fended Off FTR and StokleyA video played right before this showing Adam Copeland telling Christian Cage after what happened at Forbidden Door that he'd be going away for a while and that he didn't know if he'd be back. Obviously, he will be, so don't get your hopes up for him actually leaving AEW and returning to WWE for one more match with John Cena. As for the segment itself, it was well done and it was nice to see Nightingale involved in something somewhat meaningful for the first time in months. Is this leading to a six-person tag team matchup? The Conglomeration (Hologram, Mark Briscoe and Orange Cassidy) def. The Don Callis Family (Hechicero, Konosuke Takeshita and AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada)The return of Cassidy was the worst kept secret coming into this show, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Honestly, his return was better executed than Eddie Kingston's. The teases as opposed to outright announcing him made for a bigger reaction, especially with the way he was "unveiled" here. This was a solid six-man tag team match, but it was strange seeing Okada and Takeshita take a bit of a backseat. I was wondering why Hologram picked up the pinfall win for his team and not Cassidy, but then it became clear afterward when Kyle Fletcher emerged and declared that he'd defend his AEW TNT Championship against Hologram on next week's six-year anniversary edition of Dynamite. Claudio Castagnoli def. AEW World Trios Champion Powerhouse HobbsThis was yet another battle between a member of The Opps and a member of The Death Riders. Hobbs specifically has been feuding with the faction all year, so I'm beyond ready for him to move on to something else. The match was well worked, but I assume this is leading to Death Riders going back after the AEW World Trios Championship. Ugh. Worse yet, Page made the save for Hobbs and Samoa Joe afterward. I have no idea what the point is of rekindling that rivalry after only two months. AEW Women's World Champion Kris Statlander def. ROH Interim Women's World Television Champion Mina Shirakawa (ROH Interim Women's World Television Championship Was Not Defended)It was established that Statlander wants to be a fighting champion and that's why this match was made. Shirakawa is popular, but this match would've meant more had she actually been built up for this opportunity ahead of time. They had a quality contest and I appreciated the women going on last for a change. Post-match, Statlander teased joining Death Riders only to lay out Wheeler Yuta and escape through the crowd. Darby Allin also emerged with a flamethrower and challenged Moxley to an "I Quit" match at WrestleDream. Overall ShowTony Khan's "important announcement" was that an AEW Women's World Tag Team Championship will finally be introduced "soon." The belts were shown right before the main event. They've been in the works for many months and would explain why we've been subjected to so many (meaningless) tag team matches with the women since the spring. Hopefully they can be made to feel coveted and don't turn out to be glorified props like WWE's women's tag titles have. At any rate, in typical AEW fashion, they failed to follow up on the hot All Out event. This was a standard show with entertaining action and a few highlights but not enough memorable or must-see moments worthy of a post-pay-per-view episode.
