AEW World Champion "Hangman" Adam Page and AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher Signed the Contract for Their AEW World Championship Match at All OutI don't think there's a single soul who honestly believes Fletcher has a shot in hell of beating Page for the AEW World title at All Out, but Fletcher has more than held his own throughout the build and his great promo here was yet another example of that. This was strong stuff to sell viewers on their match and I like the tease from Fletcher about bloodying up Page before the end of the night. Jon Moxley def. Roderick StrongWhen this match was announced, I didn't think about how Strong would have to face off with his wife Marina Shafir at some point. I doubt anything more is done with that (such as The Death Riders attempting to recruit Strong to join his wife), but it was a nice touch, nonetheless. Meanwhile, for as little as I care about Death Riders these days, Moxley deserves credit for consistently killing it in these television matches. This was the well-worked match you'd expect from these two with Moxley maintaining momentum ahead of his Coffin match with Darby Allin at All Out. Bobby Lashley def. Toa LionaWe rarely see Liona compete on his own, so I appreciated that he had the opportunity to showcase his skills here, even if the outcome was never in doubt. He gave Lashley quite the fight and was made to look credible in defeat in what was a fun hoss fight. I hope Ricochet and The Gates of Agony beat The Hurt Syndicate win on Saturday because they could use the victory way more. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage Attacked FTRIn my opinion, the build to this match at All Out has left a lot to be desired, so this was a necessary segment to kick the hype for it back into high gear. FTR were excellent on the mic and Copeland also delivered the goods with his promo. My only complaint is that I wish we heard more from Christian, but otherwise, this was the best piece of business these guys have done since the matchup was announced. The Young Bucks def. Bang Bang Gang (Juice Robinson and Austin Gunn) to Qualify for the AEW World Tag Team Championship Four-Way Ladder Match at All OutThe Bucks are back to making their usual entrance, so it seems like the story of them being down on their luck is pretty much over. Then again, it feels like they've won half if not more of their matches since losing their EVP titles at All In, so it's not as if they went full throttle with the idea, anyway. As for this match, it was solid. The Bucks might be about to regain the tag titles this weekend and, personally, it feels too soon for that. Mascara Dorada def. The Beast Mortos in an AEW International Championship Eliminator MatchThere was one really bad sequence in the middle, but on the whole, this was an enjoyable sprint between two talented athletes. My top takeaway was that Dorada actually won. That genuinely shocked me. Granted, it's not like Mortos ever really wins whenever it matters most, but I figured he'd be a lock for the three-way. Whoever won this was always going to eat the pinfall loss at All Out, so to me, the outcome was irrelevant. Jamie Hayter and Kris Statlander Interrupted AEW Women's World Champion "Timeless" Toni StormStorm was cutting her usual risqué promo when Hayter and then Statlander both popped up under the spotlight with her to make their claim at the championship. I thought that was a cool approach, and their mic work did help make their four-way at All Out a little less random. Thekla interrupted all of them, but that was only so she could make her entrance for the No Holds Barred matchup. Thekla def. Queen Aminata in a No Holds Barred MatchTruthfully, this would have made more sense as the match at All Out considering how long they've been feuding, but at least they finally had a chance to settle their score. This would've meant a little more if we didn't just see Toni Storm in a Philadelphia Street Fight against Skye Blue a week or two ago, but it was a hell of a brawl, nonetheless. Thekla, Storm, Hayter and Statlander all crossed paths again afterward. JetSpeed def. Kip Sabian and Killswitch to Qualify for the AEW World Tag Team Championship Four-Way Ladder Match at All OutSure, JetSpeed already unsuccessfully challenged for the tag titles at All In and lost, but how could you not include those guys in a Ladder match environment? The match was decent, but it was overshadowed by the finish that saw Killswitch walk off on Sabian and cause their team to lose. Killswitch was organically getting over again before he got injured last year, so although he reunited with The Patriarchy upon his return last month, I'm glad they're picking back up where they left off with him. Riho def. Robyn RenegadeInterestingly, there were rumors a while ago that a Mercedes Mone-led faction with The Renegades was in the works and I thought this might be where it started to take shape, but apparently not. Rather, Riho beat Renegade in a rather straightforward squash (which is exactly what it should have been) before Mone laid out Riho afterward. Maybe The Renegades help Mone beat Riho on Saturday? The Don Callis Family (Hechicero and Josh Alexander) def. Top Flight to Qualify for the AEW World Tag Team Championship Four-Way Ladder Match at All OutWas this worthy of the main event slot? Absolutely not, but I basically considered the third hour of this special to be Collision (it said so on HBO Max, anyway), so I understand why they went with this last. Plus, it was a quality contest and the right team advanced. Post-match, Fletcher was able to attack Page and put him through a table, but unless I missed it, he didn't make him bleed, so I was expecting a little more than what we got after what he said during the contract signing. Overall ShowThis was a three-hour special because there won't be a standard Collision on Saturday but rather a one-hour pre-show on TNT before All Out that afternoon. I'll take this over the four-hour blocks of television they were doing for a few weeks at the start of the summer. It was definitely long, but at least there were plenty of matches with stakes and some top-notch mic work for the top matchups at the pay-per-view.
