Babes of Wrath def. Timeless Love Bombs in the AEW Women's World Championship Tournament to Become the Inaugural AEW Women's World Tag Team ChampionsStarting the show with this made feel even more important. It would've been even better if it closed an episode of Dynamite, and honestly, it could have easily headlined over Samoa Joe vs. Eddie Kingston given how they ended up going down. Nonetheless, this was a really nice match, though not quite what it could have been given the level of talent involved. I assumed Timeless Love Bombs would win, but I have no issue with Babes of Wrath becoming the inaugural champs if the idea is to make them more than a makeshift team. AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada def. Jack Perry in a Continental Classic Gold League Match (Non-Title)Perry is replacing the injured Darby Allin in the Continental Classic. This was essentially an impromptu match and it was a damn good one at that, especially considering Perry hasn't wrestled a singles match in AEW in well over a year. Them having history from their time in The Elite helped, too. Okada winning was never in doubt, but Perry had a strong showing in defeat. The post-match angle with Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Luchasaurus making the save for Perry was well done, but do we really need another six-man tag team matchup next week with a million dollars on the line? The Death Riders Confronted AEW TNT Champion Mark BriscoeThis was a rather simple segment with Briscoe addressing the audience and being interrupted by Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia from the crowd. I liked how Death Riders' entrance music didn't play and that they just cut off Briscoe organically. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary about this, but they did effectively build toward their AEW TNT Championship clash on Saturday's Collision. Swerve Strickland and "Hangman" Adam Page def. AEW World Trios Champions The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs) in a Tornado Tag Team MatchStrickland and Page are obviously excellent rivals, but they proved here they work just as well as partners. They woke the crowd up and kept the pace consistent throughout. When you take away the brawling, the match itself wasn't that long, but what we got was enjoyable. I don't expect Strickland and Page's alliance to last if both of them have their sights set on the AEW World Championship. "Speedball" Mike Bailey def. Kyle Fletcher in a Continental Classic Gold League MatchThis was far and away the highlight from this show. I'm well aware both guys are talented, but I still didn't expect them to go out there and have the banger than they did. The action was outstanding and they made every minute matter. Fletcher winning would've been the predictable result, so Bailey going over instead was a pleasant surprise. There's been some amazing matches on Dynamite this year, but this has to be in the conversation of the very best. AEW World Champion and AEW World Trios Champion Samoa Joe def. Eddie KingstonIt's a shame AEW rushed through this rivalry because it had serious potential and could have given us some stellar talking segments over the course of a few weeks. It ended up being brief but fun. The same can be said for the match itself. They took the fight to each other and they tried to create drama with the nearfalls, but the title never felt like it was truly in jeopardy. I'd say Joe winning decisively and the show going off the air was underwhelming, but I'll take that over the usual interference from The Opps. Overall ShowI'm not really sure why AEW continues to hold Winter Is Coming every December when we now have Worlds End not long after, but to the company's credit, this was one of the better editions in recent years thanks to the two title matches that opened and closed the show as well as Fletcher vs. Bailey, which is well worth seeking out. The Continental Classic is the central focus for the time being, but there is some other solid stuff going on elsewhere on these shows.
