Recently on SmackDown, WWE has given Wade Barrett the Intercontinental Championship after defeating Kofi Kingston as the ref for the match was distracted. My Thoughts: This is the first title Wade has held in the WWE and because of his Corre faction I personally think he needs to go solo. We all thought he would be a bad wrestler on his own but he did fairly well with the Big Show in his debut. I dont like Wade Barrett. Hey! I have my own opinion! I do however think it was wise to use Wade Barrett as a champion. I think Wade can make his carrer a step bigger by having a good 3+ month reign as Intercontinental Championship. I think now maybe the final WrestleMania match will be Kofi vs Wade Barrett. I personally think that WWE can raise the bar by adding in the tag titles like this: Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater vs Kofi Kingston, Kane and Big Show. Will Wade Do Well As Intercontinental Champion? – Yes.

For the past two weeks, I have presented articles regarding past and present WWE Superstars, Kenny Dyktra and William Regal, and their sudden downfall from being pushed to punished. The past two editions can be reached here:
-Edition One: Kenny Dykstra -Edition Two: William Regal In this week's Pushed to Punished, I discuss a foreign Superstar whose future looked bright before hitting controversy beyond his control. If you blinked, you missed him. I'm talking about none other than Muhammad Hassan. Hassan's career in WWE was quick yet effective, setting a whole new standard of racism in professional wrestling. Yet another example of how WWE Management dropped the ball on a rising wrestler. Starting in late 2004, Muhmmad Hassan made his debut on RAW alongside Daivari, where he made a name for himself by interrupting other Superstars. Ironically enough, the term "Hassan" is now used as a slang term "to interrupt." His technique of "cutting a promo" at various times is what succeeded in getting him over with the crowd, gaining more and more heat with each promo. Not to mention his Middle Eastern race was due to the reason of his heat, as his debut followed the devastating 9/11 attacks. Hassan made his in-ring debut at New Years Revolution 2005 successfully defeating Jerry Lawler. In nearly a month, Muhammad Hassan became the most hated heel on RAW, even being ganged up on in the 2005 Royal Rumble Match by nearly every present participant. Muhammad Hassan experienced his first (and only) WrestleMania moment atWrestleMania 21 attacking former trainer Eugene before Hulk Hogan made his triumphant return to make the save. This would soon lead to Hassan tagging with Daivari to lose against Hogan and his partner Shawn Michaels the following month at Backlash. His exposure only began to grow, picking up the biggest win of his career against then-World Heavyweight Champion Batista by disqualification on RAW in May. In addition, Hassan even received a WWE Championship match against John Cena, even if it was a two-minute squash. Both Hassan and Daivari would soon be drafted to the SmackDown brand in June, however, marking the beginning of the end of Muhammad Hassan. Upon his arrival, Muhammad Hassan would challenge the Undertaker to a match at The Great American Bash upon General Manager Teddy Long's consent. On the July 4th tapings ofSmackDown, Muhammad Hassan would summon five men with ski masks and camouflage pants to attack Taker following his match with Daivari. Ironically enough, the London bombings took place hours before SmackDown aired, gaining much media coverage and criticism world-wide. The incident made the New York Post, a fact that was reiterated during Hassan's promo the following week that would air on WWE.com. Due to this, the network SmackDown aired on at the time, UPN, decided to remove Muhammad Hassan from television immediately. He made his last appearance in his match against Undertaker at the Great American Bash, where he took a Last Ride through the stage, effectively costing him his career. Creatively, Muhammad Hassan was booked to become WWE's next breakout star by defeating the Undertaker at the Great American Bashbefore challenging and defeating Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Due to the network's racial discrimination, these plans went up in flames. Let me get this straight: a second class television network that isn't even in commission anymore ended a Superstar's career for their own abuse of power over his race? Yeah, that's not racist at all. I blame this fault more on the network than WWE Management, but WWE rubbed it off like nothing happened, barely without an explanation. Not only did it cost Hassan his career, it cost WWE an huge money-maker main eventer who could have been the equivalent to today's Sheamus. Well folks, you know the drill; make sure to leave comments to voice your opinions on the outrageous issue of dropping the ball on a Superstar with much potential. Thanks for reading, and be sure to reply on how I did on the article, it's much appreciated. GSM out. In a shocking turn of events, former World Heavyweight Champion has requested his contract release from WWE with a threat of his own for WWE management. Here's the full story as provided by wrestlenewz.com:
"We’re still waiting on more details to come in but Rey Mysterio recently requested his release from WWE and told officials that he would retire if they did not grant his wish. We don’t know when Rey made the request but do know it was before WWE’s big Sin Cara press conference two weeks ago in Mexico. Stay tuned for more." GSM's Thoughts: Am I sensing some jealous here? If the report is true, I'm not too surprised to see Mysterio somewhat jealous of all the buzz of Sin Cara's WWE signing. Does this mean Mysterio wasn't too happy about allowing Alberto Del Rio to go over in their feud as well? Rey Mysterio has always been known for complaining to management. In summer 2009, Dolph Ziggler was originally supposed to win the Intercontinental Championship from Rey Mysterio at Night of Champions. But the decision was reversed just to keep Mysterio happy. Ziggler could have been World Champion by now if his push came earlier. Another example being this past summer in 2010 where Rey Mysterio won the World Championship for a second time at the Fatal Four Way pay-per-view event in June. Once again, the title was given to Mysterio just to keep him satisfied, even if his pitiful reign only lasted three weeks. Personally, I wouldn't mind if Mysterio retired. We've seen him feud with almost everyone in the business (with the exception of Sheamus, Barrett, and Cena), so he doesn't have that many years left in him anyway. He's injury-prone, and it would better to let him make room for the fresh Sin Cara a.k.a. Mistico. I honestly doubt that if this report proves to be true, Mysterio's release will not be granted. He's one of the hottest babyfaces in the company! Well kids mostly, but I for one am sick of seeing him bury people such as CM Punk, Jack Swagger, and Del Rio, and hopefully Rhodes does not meet the same fate. If Mysterio does indeed retire (which obviously wouldn't be anytime in the near future), I would love nothing more than to see him feud with Sin Cara. Especially if it meant turning Mysterio heel. Knowing WWE, they wouldn't have the guts to turn to Mysterio heel being beloved by children. That's almost unlikely as seeing Cena turn as well. But come on. Imagine if Mysterio turned into a villain and cut a promo saying how every time he touched masks with a child in the crowd, it would make him vomit within his mask. How awesome would that be? Hopefully these reports prove to be true so I can finally see the end of the reign of Rey Mysterio. Make sure to leave a comment on your thoughts. GSM out. Tyler Reks defeated Chris Masters
Of the thousand times we've seen this match occur, this was the best one these two have contested. A feud is rare onSuperstars, so the chemistry and history between Masters and Reks made this match enjoyable. However, the wrong person went over here. Rumors have been circulating that Masters is in for a big time push soon, but burying an up-and-coming talent such as Reks won't help matters. I do believe Masters should receive at least one Intercontinental Championship reign before he leaves WWE just to see how it would go over, but Reks has proved to be a legitimate contender after winning countless matches over the last few months. Where's his title match? Zack Ryder with Primo defeated Vladimir Kozlov with Santino Marella A quick squash contest that did nothing for either man. Kozlov dominated the entire match, but with one move it's over? Nonsense. The only thing I enjoyed about this match was the outcome since Ryder really needs some wins under his belt. This feud will not be anything enjoyable, so what's the point of trying with pointless matches like this? The Great Khali, Mark Henry, and Natayla defeated Tyson Kidd, William Regal, and Melina(6-Person Mixed Tag Team Match) A not-so-appealing main event with randomly picked wrestlers didn't satisfy me when I saw it advertised. The only reason I watched was due to William Regal's participation. Of course, my standards weren't high on this one, but this was a complete joke. Team Khali dominated the entire thing, picked up a predictable victory, and then went on to destroy Tyson Kidd. EVERYONE hit their finishes on Kidd following the match. How sad is that? Regal and Melina I can understand becoming after-thoughts in this match, but the fresh heel Kidd? Following his heel turn, I saw potential in a Bryan vs. Kidd rivalry, with Kidd possibly even winning the United States Championship. But, of course, WWE decides to give the fan-favorite giants meaningless victories. Enjoy Tyson Kidd while you can before he gets future endeavored following WrestleMania. Final Review With minimal in-ring action, this has honestly got to be the worst Superstars broadcast in recent memory. Random matches with wrong winners don't give me any reasons to watch WGN America on Thursday nights. With RAW and SmackDown filled with promos and very little wrestling, WWE should consider taking Superstars more seriously with more action on the Road to WrestleMania. On a side note, this was deemed as the 100th episode on WWE.com. Not even mentioning that fact pities me, and what a disgrace of a milestone this show proved to be. |
