By Graham "GSM" Matthews Here on WrestleMania Recall, I will be ranking my top 31 favorite matches in WWE WrestleMania history. A new installment will be posted every day in the month of March, culminating with my No. 1 favorite match on Thursday, March 31st, mere days before WrestleMania 32. Each article will offer an in-depth look at each match and an analysis of why it is among my favorites. Up until last year, WrestleMania 28 was my favorite WrestleMania of all-time. Its card was simply stacked from top to bottom, but especially the top three main events. I'm not arguing it's the greatest ever, but rather my personal favorite because of my emotional attachment to it and the fantastic build it had in the weeks preceding the event. What's funny about this specific selection is that I had zero desire to see The Undertaker vs. Triple H again at WrestleMania, and as a result, I was vehemently against the idea of yet another rematch between the two. Not only did they face off the year prior at WrestleMania 27, but they wrestled against each other a decade earlier at WrestleMania 17 as well. That would be three times in total! And I wasn't down for that whatsoever. Prior to that point, I had never seen their WM17 match, and the hype for their WM27 match was decent at best. I was in the minority that was bored by their 2011 match, although watching it back in recent years has made me appreciate it more. Nevertheless, I wouldn't be sold on the idea of HHH vs. 'Taker happening at WrestleMania 28 until the program officially kicked off.

RJ’s Two Cents - 5 Best/Worst Booked WWE Superstars & Divas Since WrestleMania 31: Edition #43/30/2016 By RJ Marceau Over the past year, the landscape of the WWE has taken twists and turns with Superstars and Divas being featured in prominent roles and now on the outside looking in. This is the fourth edition of this series. I decided to not include injured wrestlers because even if they had a great 2015 we don’t know how they would be booked going into WrestleMania 32. It may however include Superstars or Divas that debuted after WrestleMania 31. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Michael Bennett and Ethan Carter III Interrupted Matt Hardy Didn't Hardy and Bennett have an alliance toward the end of Hardy's Ring of Honor run a few years back? I didn't expect them to acknowledge it, but Bennett seemed to allude to it in his promo, which was cool. They had a decent back-and-forth, but EC3's mic work was questionable. He's always been a great talker, but he hasn't clicked on the mic just yet as a babyface. He's far better as the silent badass. Of course, this segment served as a fine transition into the subsequent Handicap match. Ethan Carter III def. Matt Hardy, Tyrus, Rockstar Spud and Reby Sky in a 4-on-1 Handicap Match by Disqualification I'm rarely a fan of intergender matches, but thankfully, Reby didn't get physically involved like I thought she would. Otherwise, this was a pretty standard Handicap match, so it wasn't really exciting. The crowd rallied behind EC3 as he battled up against the odds, but it proved to be worthless once Bennett got involved and it turned into a six-man tag team match, thus leading me to believe this was merely designed to be a time filler. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Ryback def. Fandango It didn't dawn on me until this match but I might actually like Ryback's run as a heel if he's booked properly. Although he's traditionally been a better babyface, I saw shades of his short-lived Skip Sheffield character here. No, not when he was acting like a cowboy on NXT, but rather when he was the dominant badass in The Nexus. That's the type of aggression I want from Ryback going forward and we got a small taste of that here in this squash match. Fandango scored more offense than I would have liked, but otherwise it was a decent tune-up for The Big Guy before his United States Championship match at WrestleMania. Overall Show Similar to this week's Superstars, only one match was taped for Main Event because it was taped before Raw on Monday night. The rest of the show was filled with Raw replays and WrestleMania video packages, so you'd be wasting your time by tuning in to this episode. Ryback vs. Fandango was nothing special, but at least it didn't overstay its welcome and served something of a purpose. |
