![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Kane Interrupted WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins Kane continues to impress me with how relevant he's become within the mere matter of weeks. My only fear is that he becomes the focus of the Steel Cage match at Extreme Rules as the "guardian of the gate," or worse yet, all of this turns out to be a red herring and he remains with The Authority. He's been showing great fire these last few weeks and his interaction with Seth Rollins was well done. Normally I'm not a fan of long talking segments opening shows, but I didn't mind this one too much. Plus, it also set up the tag team main event for the night. Dolph Ziggler and Neville def. Sheamus and Bad News Barrett It's a shame that Daniel Bryan vs. Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules has hardly gotten any hype, but Bryan's current condition might prevent it from happening, anyway. Nevertheless, this was a good match that featured entertaining action and helped further the feud between Ziggler and Sheamus. It was nice to see Neville mix it up with some established names and actually score a pinfall win for once. A Neville vs. Barrett feud down the line (barring Barrett still means something) could be something special.

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Sexy Star def. Pentagon Jr. Normally, I don't have an issue with the inter-gender matches because I feel it's part of what makes Lucha Underground unique from other promotions, but it felt unrealistic in this instance. Sexy Star is one of the best talents on the entire roster, but Pentagon has been running rampant on every one of his opponents so far, so this should have been more one-sided than it was. Worse yet, Star winning was an anticlimactic way of ending Pentagon's long standing undefeated streak. Again, she's great, but having her win clean was unbelievable (and not in a good way). Pentagon didn't do anything to get his heat back afterward, either, so I question the booking here. Angelico, Son of Havoc & Ivelisse def. Big Ryck, The Mack & Killshot and Cage, King Cuerno & Texano in a Three Way Elimination Tag Team Match Did you honestly expect anything less than an amazing match? All three teams went out and put it all on the line, keeping the audience's interest the entire time. Daivari attacking Texano was a nice out for Texano's team to lose, though I'm curious as to what that will end up leading to. When it came down to the last two trios, chaos ensued and the action was non-stop insanity. Ivelisse, despite being the only woman in the match, didn't seem out of place and everyone else had their shining moment. I absolutely loved the enthusiasm Vampiro and Matt Striker showed on commentary when Angelico hit his finisher for the win. We need to see more of that elsewhere. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Finn Balor def. Tye Dillinger Dillinger had a fine showing, but this was a total showcase for Balor and as always, he shined. I don't care how short his match lasts: as long as I get to see his awesome entrance, that's all that matters. In all seriousness, it would've been cool if the match went a little longer than it did, especially for Dillinger's sake. I've said this countless times before, but the kid's got potential. He's been grossly overlooked since he arrived in NXT and an impressive outing against an established star such as Balor would have done wonders for him. A missed opportunity. Becky Lynch def. Charlotte and Bayley in a No. 1 Contender's Triple Threat Match for the NXT Women's Championship It wasn't the show stealing match the Fatal 4-Way was at NXT: Rival back in February, but it was still better than anything we see from the main roster ladies these days (though that can be said for almost every women's match in NXT). Each of them got in their signature maneuvers, and while it slightly suffered from crowd interest (due to a long night of tapings), they brought the crowd to life down the stretch. The finish was fantastic in that it gave Lynch a huge win while also protecting Charlotte and Bayley. Furthermore, Lynch vs. Sasha Banks is a fresh match I'm looking forward to seeing over the title. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Fandango def. Curtis Axel We saw the same match on Raw this week, although was slightly longer but only a few minutes. It didn't matter it was one minute or ten: it failed to peak my interest. Axel has gotten his Axelmania shtick over in a major way and Fandango is a great athlete, but their in-ring styles simply don't click. People get a kick out of Axel, but they don't take him seriously because he never wins. The return of Fandangoing was cool for one night in England, but it clearly hasn't had the same reaction in the States, unfortunately for him. Brie Bella def. Alicia Fox Man, and I thought the crowd was flat for the opener. You could have heard a pin drop at ant point in this match. And don't take that as a knock on the talents involved but rather the booking of the talents involved. Fox has floundered for years and it still hasn't been clearly defined whether The Bella Twins are babyfaces now or not. Brie's booking before last week was already atrocious, but her recent turn doesn't help matters, which is why it came as no surprise that the crowd sat on their hands for this one. They briefly came alive when Brie was on offense, but other than that, they were dead silent. ![]() By Guest Contributor If you weren't a member of the all-time record-setting audience that witnessed WrestleMania XXXI, one of the 1.3 million subscribers of the WWE Network, or if you’ve recently awakened from a debilitating coma, you’ll be surprised to learn that the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion is Seth Rollins. His unparalleled rivalry with Dean Ambrose, solid program with John Cena, and masterful work with Randy Orton have cemented him as the top heel in the WWE for the foreseeable future. Seth Rollins’ youth and considerable locker room virginity is a booker’s dream in that there are so many fresh feuds to be had. With that being said, it’s time to dive into the five must-see feuds for the Davenport native, Seth Rollins. |
