![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Curtis Axel def. Cody Rhodes Did anyone else find it comical that Ryback and Axel were mocking the Rhodes brothers about not winning a match yet they themselves haven't won a meaningful match in ages? Axel and Rhodes worked a good match like only they could, though it should have been given more time. Rhodes losing furthered his story that he can't buy a victory, but I hope to see a new chapter develop soon as the constant losses are starting to wear thin. R-Truth def. D-Sizzle (Damien Sandow) Sandow's last three impersonations were bad and they just kept getting worse and worse. D-Sizzle was slightly more comical than the rest, but it could also be considered racist even though I personally wasn't offended by it. It was a throwaway match as expected, but thankfully is wasn't a repeat of their snoozer of a match last week and was instead kept brief. Sandow losing to Truth doesn't even bother me anymore because by this point it has become the norm.

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Authority Fired Raw General Manager Brad Maddox The first portion of The Authority's promo was solid yet uneventful. It felt like a promo for Payback and what else was to come on this show, but on the same token, it gave viewers an incentive to tune in for the rest of the night. Things didn't get interesting until The Authority called out Maddox and (finally) fired him following an attack from Kane. It was about damn time. Maddox hardly ever appears on WWE TV and the General Manager position doesn't mean anything when The Authority is around, so I'd be content if they got rid of the position all together. That goes for Vickie Guerrero as SmackDown GM as well. Cesaro def. Rob Van Dam These two haven't had the best chemistry together in the past, but this was by far their best match yet. They worked a good match, the action was enjoyable and the right person went over. Bad News Barrett was effective on commentary on selling his Intercontinental title match at Payback and Sheamus running down afterward to brawl with Cesaro sold their U.S. title match as well. I'm liking both of these feuds right now and I'm very glad to see the midcard starting to mean something again. ![]() By Greg Lowenthal Hey guys, so here's the lowdown for this week. Things haven't exactly been that great for me personally but I'll give you all a bit of a review this week for Raw, SmackDown and Impact Wrestling. So here's Impact Wrestling first. I'm disappointed in the direction Impact Wrestling is taken. It seems the talent management at Spike TV has taken notice of the whole "Authority versus Daniel Bryan" angle and have done their own version with MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley versus the current TNA World Champion Eric Young. This is NOT the direction they need to take. They need to amp it up through some kind of Battle Royal match rather than this stupid angle that doesn't seem to interest me at all as a devout wrestling fan. Raw and Smackdown are going to be combined for this week's review since BOTH took place in England. I'm giving them both a B+ overall with a few highlights. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Hulk Hogan and Jimmy Hart Appeared The main purpose of Hogan's appearance was to promote the WWE Network for the United Kingdom (which will hopefully be getting it by early next year), though that much has been obvious since he first returned back in February. Hogan is notable ambassador for the WWE that is perfect for this kind of stuff, so I don't blame them for using him in this fashion. He doesn't need to get physical and as it was announced, this was his first time in a WWE ring in England in nearly two decades, so it was a nice, nostalgic moment for those in attendance. Batista def. Dolph Ziggler in a No Disqualification Match Ziggler may not be getting pushed at the moment, but when he's put in big matches against top names, he shines every time. He had an impressive outing against Batista, who also held his own here. They were given great time and utilized the extreme environment well. I didn't think for a second that Ziggler would actually win, but he looked strong in defeat and Batista came out of this looking like a total beast, so it was certainly a win-win situation. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews TNA World Tag Team Champions The Wolves Confronted MVP MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley did their best in explaining their actions from last week, but the logic gaps are still very much apparent. Lashley was fine on the mic and while I'm a fan of King, he acted extremely annoying here for one reason or another. I appreciate the attempt in making sense out of all of this, but I'm not buying it in the slightest. The Wolves coming out was logical given their association with MVP and if nothing else, the attack on The Wolves, especially Lashley spearing Davey Richards off the stage, was a strong visual. TNA World Heavyweight Champion Eric Young Called Out MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley This would have been a solid segment at the halfway point of the show, not immediately following another talking segment. With that in mind, this felt like it dragged and completely pointless. Young's promo was good, but it all seemed unnecessary. Didn't Austin Aries turn heel only a few months ago? And now he's face again? I realize he's had problems with MVP all along, but so did Lashley and King and they're aligned with him now. Seriously, what is wrong with this company? |
