NXT Women's Champion Io Shirai and Tegan Nox def. Candice LeRae and Dakota KaiIt was cool to see Shirai and Nox join forces following their awesome match against each other for the NXT Women's Championship two weeks ago. This matchup made sense as both LeRae and Kai have been winning a fair amount lately. They constantly kept things moving and put together an excellent opener. Since Kai wasn't pinned, she still has some credibility going into her number one contender's outing with Rhea Ripley next week. I'm banking on Ripley to win and advance to TakeOver XXX to face Shirai for the title. Johnny Gargano def. Roderick StrongYou know you're going to get nothing short of a great match whenever Gargano and Strong are in the ring together and that's exactly what this was. Despite both men being heels, the action was entertaining enough that it didn't matter too much. It kept the show's momentum rolling after the enjoyable opener and both guys put in a hell of an effort. This was a nice rebound win for Gargano following last week's Triple Threat loss and I assume he'll find his way into the NXT North American Championship Ladder matchup at TakeOver XXX.

#AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling. Nothing is off limits, and this week’s edition touches upon a variety of topics including:
Impact World Champion Eddie Edwards def. TreyI wouldn't want Impact World Championship matches kicking off the show every week, but this was a great to open the night coming off last week's newsworthy episode. Sure, Trey was the first man eliminated from the Slammiversary main event, but he's been in enough high-profile matches in IMPACT this year that I thought he was the perfect first challenger to Edwards' newly-won title. They had a fun match, even though I never bought into the possibility of Trey winning. Eric Young emerged afterward, so I'm sure Edwards vs. Young is inevitable. Impact Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo def. Kimber Lee (Non-Title)Purrazzo has been the complete package since returning to IMPACT and she showed here that she thrives in the role as champion. I hope Jordynne Grace doesn't beat her to get the belt back in their eventual rematch, but I'm looking forward to it nonetheless because of how well they worked together at Slammiversary. As for this, it served as a good showcase for Purrazzo and didn't overstay its welcome. Lee impressed more than she has in other matches she's had in IMPACT thus far.
FTR def. The InitiativeThe Initiative is what Peter Avalon and Brandon Cutler are calling themselves now. Does that mean they aren't going to be breaking up any time soon? They looked good again here, but this mostly about FTR and the match itself wasn't anything special. I'm convinced Avalon and Cutler were put together just to lose to the entire AEW tag team division, which is fine, but it doesn't make their matches very exciting if the outcome is always a foregone conclusion. Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela def. Pineapple Pete and Michael NakazawaAs I've said before, I guess the pairing of Kiss and Janela works in the sense that it gives both of them something to do after floundering for so long, but outside of a pair of vignettes, viewers have yet to be given a real reason to care about them, especially after they had their asses handed to them by Lance Archer a few weeks ago. Pete is a clown and Nakazawa is awful, so I wasn't surprised that this match was a stinker.
