By Graham "GSM" Matthews Tye Dillinger def. Angelo Dawkins It's great that Dillinger's last two victories over Blake and Murphy weren't random and that the idea is for him to actually start building up some momentum for a change. He's extremely over, so it was only a matter of time. The match was nothing of note, but Dawkins needs to stop doing that damn pot stirring motion. It looks so stupid. Anyway, I love a potential pairing of Dillinger and Bobby Roode in the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. They're fan favorites and if the two Canadians were to make it to the finals in Toronto, the reaction would be insane if they won. NXT Tag Team Champions The Revival vs. The Ealy Brothers Went to a No Contest (Non-title) I laughed my ass off when Samoa Joe came out and absolutely wrecked The Ealy Brothers and The Revival just stood there on the ramp before walking to the back with smiles on their faces knowing they didn't have to work. Hilarious. Meanwhile, Joe continued his path of destruction with a total annihilation of these two no-namers, and as I said last week, his rampage in the coming weeks will be fun to watch.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews Prince Puma def. Siniestro de la Muerte Remember when they were trying to push Muerte as a legitimate threat last season? How long did that last? Catrina's not even coming out with him anymore, so it appears even she gave up on him and for good reason. At the very least, he's a fine hand in the ring and he bumped around well for Puma and his exciting offense. The commentators made mention of how Puma now has a "darker" edge to him. Is he joining the "dark side" with Pentagon Dark, too? Anyway, this was a fun little opener that furthered the feud between Puma and Mil Muertes nicely. Pentagon Dark def. Cortez Castro Uh oh, it looks like Dario Cueto is onto Castro now. I don't think the live crowd sees the segments on television like we do, so they must have been confused as hell in terms of how to react to him. But they went nuts for Pentagon and he absolutely destroyed him. His post-match promo was great and there is little question that, other than Dario, he is the best talker in the entire promotion. He said he doesn't even respect his own mother, and the fans cheered him, regardless. What a heel! By Graham "GSM" Matthews Silas Young def. GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Toru Yano Young is such a serious competitor that he actually gels perfectly with comedy characters. That was why he worked so well with Dalton Castle for nearly a year and why he and Yana had a fun match here. I don't know if the "This is awesome!" chants from the crowd were entirely necessary, but it was indeed a damn enjoyable match. While I'm glad Young scored the victory, it was weird because Young will be on the pre-show and Yano will be competing on the actual card at All Star Extravaganza. The Brisoces, who will be teaming with Yano at the event, came to his aid afterward, so it was a bit of a random match in retrospect despite how good it was. "The Punishment" Damian Martinez def. Cheeseburger Martinez may not be a monster in the same way Kane and Big Show are, but he has size and I was happy they paired him with Cheeseburger as his premiere opponent. Not only do fans like Cheeseburger, but anyone who faces him looks like a giant in comparison. This was a simple, straightforward squash for Martinez, although I couldn't care less that the angle between Steve Corino, BJ Whitmer and Kevin Sullivan is apparently continuing. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Randy Orton Called Out Bray Wyatt Orton has come across as more motivated than he has been in years since returning over the summer and that has carried over to this program with Wyatt, but simultaneously, Wyatt keeps cutting the same tired promos that got old years ago. His delivery is on-point, it's just the content that is extremely repetitive and hardly engaging. Did we hear him talk about Roman Reigns' kids too when they were feuding last year? And didn't that lead nowhere? I'm holding out hope that their No Mercy match (when it's confirmed for the card, anyway) delivers because the feud has very hit or miss thus far. The Usos and The Ascension def. WWE Tag Team Champions Heath Slater and Rhyno and American Alpha First and foremost, I am absolutely digging the dark new entrance theme that The Usos debuted before the bout. I have been clamoring for them to receive new music for weeks now, so I was glad they finally delivered on that. The match itself was really fun with all four teams being spotlighted nicely and The Usos scoring the win as they should have. Slater and Rhyno are already over and it's imperative that the newly turned Usos continue to build momentum going into their SmackDown Tag Team Championship match. |
