Bron Breakker Confronted Intercontinental Champion Jey UsoKicking off the show with the wildly-popular new Intercontinental Champion was the right call. I'm glad Uso got more serious as he progressed through his promo and didn't just rely on his "yeet" shtick. Breakker showing Uso respect and teasing turning babyface was a pleasantly surprising development, but I don't think it'll stick. I like that the commentary team acknowledged how he reacted differently compared to when he suffered his first loss on the main roster to Sami Zayn a few months ago.

Saraya in a Saraya's Rules MatchThere was a belief among some fans that this could've been Saraya's sendoff from AEW as it was reported recently that her contract was expiring and she debuted at Grand Slam two years ago, so it would've been fitting if her final match with the company was at Grand Slam two years later. Well, Fightful confirmed the other day that she has in fact re-signed, so she's not going anywhere. Interestingly, this was one of the better matches she's had during her AEW run. It was on the shorter side, but they packed a lot in there. Essentially, "Saraya's Rules" meant that Saraya could do whatever she wanted and Hayter couldn't, so Hayter had the deck stacked against her. They ended up having a fun, well-worked brawl. There's no reason for the rivalry to continue with Hayter winning decisively here.
House of Black (Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews) def. Action Andretti and Lio RushI realize this was taped almost a week ago, but the timing of this airing today of all days is interesting because it was just reported that WWE has interested in bringing Black back and that AEW might add injury time onto his contract. I don't doubt that for a second. Yes, he and Matthews won here, but what have they really done since their feud with Adam Copeland ended back in May? The answer is nothing. This was an enjoyable outing, but I'm not sure what purpose it was supposed to serve.
Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont def. Kale Dixon and Uriah ConnorsDixon and Connors made for a fine team, but it was pretty obvious that Igwe and Dupont would win considering they're the actual tandem of the two. It's probably the best use of Dixon, who feels incredibly bland on his own. As for Igwe and Dupont, they've developed nicely as a team over the last year, but I think they're ready for a more regular role on NXT TV. This was a perfectly average outing.
