By RJ Marceau For over five years, Tyler Breeze has been under contract with the WWE. He started off as an enhancement talent under the name Mike Dalton. He started in WWE’s old developmental program FCW and transferred over to NXT. He still was an enhancement talent and wasn’t getting anywhere. In 2013, WWE officials told him that he needed a new character or gimmick. If he couldn’t find a new character he would be granted his future endeavors. He decided to come up with a model who takes selfies and is very arrogant. Triple H suggested that he use an iPhone to take selfies to make his character more modern. Breeze has been over with the NXT crowd since his repackaging but he is seen as a “stepping stone” for the new NXT arrivals. He has put over Finn Balor, Apollo Crews, Hideo Itami, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa. He has lost multiple NXT Championship title chances so he is looked at as a LOSER!!! He is 1-5 at NXT TakeOver specials and hasn’t won at a special since his first NXT TakeOver on May 29th, 2014.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins def. Cesaro (Non-title) Cesaro's taken a backseat on WWE TV as of late, so I'm not sure how many people saw him as a threat to Rollins. Then again, Rollins has lost to just about everyone in the last month, so anything's possible! In all seriousness, it was cool to see these two former Ring of Honor standouts face off because of their great in-ring chemistry and their tendency to deliver entertaining matchups. This contest was no exception as each of them took the other to their limit and kicked off the night in fun fashion. Rollins picked up a nice win and it was refreshing to see Cesaro spotlighted for once even though it was in a losing effort. Nikki Bella def. Paige As I've said time and time again, I appreciate the attempt to create more stories in the Divas division, but it's when they overlap that things start to get confusing. Paige's feud with Natalya hasn't done anyone any favors as it has only muddied the waters even more with her character, and I'm not sure if fans know whether to cheer or boo her. Putting her up against a fellow (?) heel in Nikki was a strange choice, but to their credit, they produced a good match. They've always worked well together and it was nice they received as much time as they did. By Graham "GSM" Matthews The All Night Express def. The Addiction They set up the match nicely last week with their back-and-forth mic exchange, so that helped make the match feel more meaningful. It was a solid tag team outing from the two tandems and the in-ring action down the stretch was enjoyable. I'm intrigued as to who's under the mask of the man who continues to cost The Addiction matches and I don't have an educated guesses as to who it could be. Hopefully it isn't too long before the big reveal otherwise fans will start to lose interest. Meanwhile, this was another good win for The All Night Express and I'd imagine their next stop is the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Michael Elgin Saved reDRAGON From The Kingdom I've been a fan of The Kingdom since I started watching Ring of Honor again over the summer and they never cease to stand out as stars. It's also cool to see they're sticking together (as opposed to Adam Cole breaking off as a babayface as previously teased). They all came across well in their respective promos and the subsequent brawl with reDRAGON and Elgin was effective in setting up a six-man tag team match between the two trios for next week. By Graham "GSM" Matthews Austin Aries def. Mr. Anderson to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series Honestly, it's hard to care about any of these matches because you know going in that they weren't taped for the intent of this tournament, but I try to let that subside so I can enjoy the in-ring action. That was the case here as Aries and Anderson delivered a very good matchup. It also helped that it was fresh, too, and the final minute or so felt suspenseful because of the time limit (which should be brought back in all promotions). In any other situation, I would have been fine with Aries advancing because he's the better of the two, but seeing as how he's no longer with the company, they made one of their current roster members look weak for someone that's been gone for months. X-Division Champion Tigre Uno def. Mark Andrews to Earn 3 Points in the World Title Series (Non-title) We haven't seen much of Mandrews at all since he won British Bootcamp. In fact, the last time he was regularly featured on TNA TV was when he was Rockstar Spud's little buddy, but that was months ago. He doesn't have an established character, so his surfer-esque mannerisms were fairly strange. I've always been a big fan of Uno, but it's a tough task for him to "rejuvenate" the X-Division when there aren't any storylines going on over his title, just random matches. |
