By Abiel Tesfamariam Actions speak louder than words. While most people think the first ever screwjob was the Montréal Screwjob, this really was it. This event took place back in 1985. It was a screwjob no one saw coming and it stunned many people around the world. This is known as the “Original Screwjob”. This match was advertised as Wendi Richter vs. The Spider Lady for the Women's Championship at first. But this was all a plan by The Fabulous Moolah and Vince McMahon. This was done because current reigning champion Wendi’s relationship had soured over the month. Vince also stated for his reasoning to screw Wendi over was because she did not sign a contract. Despite claiming she did not re-sign, she said she was on a five year contract. Vince feared that Wendi would leave the company along with the champion.

By Graham "GSM" Matthews The Miz def. Kofi Kingston (Kickoff Match) Miz didn't act heelish at all from what I saw, so I like the slow-burning heel turn they are doing with him. I still think there was a lot left in the tank for him as a babyface, but the fact of the matter is that he was so badly damaged in that role that he had to be turned. His match with Kingston was well wrestled, which shouldn't be any surprise given how many matches they have had against each other over the years. It was certainly one of the more intriguing pre-show matches in quite some time and Miz going over clean was a nice touch. Kingston refusing to shake his hand afterward was a good way of keeping the feud alive and leaving me anxious to find out what comes next. The Shield and The Real Americans def. Rey Mysterio, WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust, and The Usos in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match In what was undoubtedly the match of the night, everyone in this match managed to shine one way or another. I was disappointed to see the only five on five tag team match kick off the show, but it surely made for a hot opener. Dean Ambrose should have lasted a little longer, but it was a nice swerve to have him eliminated early on. I didn't at all expect the heels battle back and score the victory, nor did I expect Mysterio to be beaten in his first match back (excluding SmackDown). Obviously, Roman Reigns was the breakout star of this match, coming off like an absolute beast with his scintillating spears on four of the five faces on the opposing team. My only question is why they just didn't have him eliminate all five men by himself. Regardless, the finish was fantastic and all signs point to Reigns branching off on his own sooner rather than later. By Carson Koschik The final "big four" PPV is almost upon us, and overall the card seems pretty underwhelming. We have a rematch from the last PPV, Big Show in the main event, and two "traditional" Survivor Series matches which are in not traditional Survivor Series matches. But just because the card isn't the most exciting sounding doesn't mean the event doesn't have the potential to be good. Punk and Bryan will probably tear the house down versus the Wyatt Family, and I'm sure Cena and Del Rio will have a great match (even though it will be predictable as hell). But exactly how awful can Survivor Series end up being? Well that's why I'm here, to tell you just how bad it can possibly get so the actual event will seem nothing less than great. CM Punk & Daniel Bryan vs. The Wyatt Family As the Wyatt's make their entrance, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan give them a taste of their own medicine and attack them from behind. In the attack, Luke Harper is injured and is deemed incapable of participating in the match. Just as it seems as if the match is going to become a handicap match, with Erick Rowan facing CM Punk and Daniel Bryan alone, Bray Wyatt picks up the mic and begins to laugh. "Do you really think that there aren't more of us? Follow the BO-zzards!". Bo Dallas makes his way down the entrance ramp and reveals himself to be the true leader of the Wyatt Family. He dismisses Erick Rowan and tells the referee that he himself will face CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Three minutes later, Bo Dallas pins both Bryan and Punk at the same time as he gives his trademark smile and thumbs up to the camera. By Graham "GSM" Matthews WWE Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes and Goldust def. The Real Americans The action was very enjoyable throughout and proved that these two teams worked very well together. The Rhodes brothers have been doing phenomenal work since pairing up over a month ago, so there was no real reason to take the titles off them this soon. The Real Americans will be title holders at some point down the line, but they had a strong showing against the current champs here. The live crowd was hot for the final few minutes and the match also built toward the traditional Survivor Series elimination tag team match on Sunday. Ryback def. The Great Khali I read recently that Ryback will be holding another open challenge of some sort at Survivor Series, so if this is storyline for the foreseeable future, then it is rather reminiscent of what Gail Kim is doing right now in TNA. As expected, it was a throwaway match with Khali getting in more offense than he should have. Sure, Ryback hitting the Shell Shocked on Khali to pick up the win was impressive, but it wasn't anything we haven't already seen in the past. By Graham "GSM" Matthews James Storm Interrupted Dixie Carter Dixie's heel performances have usually been hit or miss over the last two months, but I thought her work here was an improvement over what she has done in recent weeks. Storm played his part well and made up for Dixie's lack of believablity as a character. It was good to see Storm spotlighted for once and I like the move of making his match a Florida Death match, as it is ten times more interesting than a Bull Rope match. Magnus def. Samoa Joe in a Falls Count Anywhere Match to Advance to the Semifinals of the TNA Title Tournament As good of a match that these two had, they simply have had better matches in the past. They utilized extreme environment well, but it was hard to engage in the action. The fact Joe didn't even bother to take off his shirt before the bout gives off the impression he isn't in the best shape, which is a shame. The finish came out of nowhere and it was unclear if Magnus truly went over clean or not. Regardless, it is nice to see Magnus advance to the semifinals, as he is my pick to win the tournament. |
