![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews NXT Women's Champion Charlotte def. Sasha Banks From a storyline standpoint, it didn't make any sense for Banks to receive another shot at the title since she did nothing to deserve it and the authority figure is face. That said, I'll never complain about the ladies closing the show with a very good match. Granted, it was the show's only match, but it was refreshing to see the women of NXT showcased for once and they definitely made the most of the opportunity. I enjoyed their Takeover match from a few weeks ago slightly more, but this was still above and beyond what we see from the main roster Divas. Ric Flair didn't play a factor into the finish despite being at ringside, but it's always nice to see him, nevertheless. Overall Show Similar to last year, they picked a good weak to look back on the biggest highlights from this year for NXT given that it's Christmas. Unlike with Superstars, I actually watched the recaps on this show because they were all excellent and would suggest you do the same. In fact, I wish they would have shown more footage of the other specials and title changes we've seen this year. The sole match that was featured was solid, rounding out an enjoyable final episode of NXT of 2014.

![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Titus O'Neil def. Justin Gabriel It still boggles my mind all these months later that they haven't done anything with O'Neil. It's not even like he's a regular on Raw or SmackDown. He's just been making weekly appearances on Superstars. What a waste of talent. Anyway, at least his final match was a winning effort. This was a standard squash match that thankfully didn't overstay its welcome. Gabriel is also an excellent athlete, but he's damaged goods by this point and I don't think there's much that can be done with him. Erick Rowan def. Cesaro How did Rowan go from closing out Raw and feuding with Big Show to headlining Superstars? He could very well be back on Raw by next week for all I know, but it seems to me they've already given up on his push. I won't jump to conclusions, but I'll simply say that it'd be a major mistake on WWE's part if they've opted to stop pushing Rowan so early into his babyface run. The match was actually pretty good and better than their last encounter from last month on SmackDown. Most of that had to do with Cesaro, but Rowan deserves credit for holding his own as well. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Cesaro and Tyson Kidd def. Los Matadores It appears the team of Cesaro and Kidd is here to stay if they're synchronized entrance video is any indication. Neither guy is doing anything else of note at the time, so I'm in favor of this for now. They're an excellent addition to a tag team division that desperately needs all the help it can get. They work well together and that was evident in this match. I enjoyed Cesaro and Kidd's match with Los Matadores more than this matchup, but it was still fun while it lasted. Brie Bella def. Summer Rae I've complained enough about Brie having yet to explain her actions as to why she and her sister Nikki are back on good terms, but this was just ridiculous. She faced a babyface Natalya on Monday's Raw, yet faced a heel Summer on this show. The crowd cheered Brie over Summer, but only because they didn't have any incentive to cheer for Summer. In other words, it was an awkward match that was rather meaningless considering neither of them are in the title picture at the moment. ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews Seth Rollins Confronted John Cena and Ho-Ho-Hogan It was cool to see so many matches, including Roman Reigns vs. Big Show and Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt, confirmed at the start of the show. I don't expect the rating to spike because of it, but with it being a holiday episode, it was smart of them to advertise anything and everything that could possibly get them viewers. Everyone played their part well here and Cena and Rollins had an entertaining exchange on the mic. It still bothers me Rollins continues to bring up The Authority in his promos because it feels like they never left. Announcing Cena vs. Rollins as the opener was a nice hook going into the commercial break. John Cena def. Seth Rollins Cena and Rollins always work well together and this was no exception. They just have such great chemistry together in the ring that it's near impossible for them to ever have a bad match. It was given very good time and the relentless reversals down the stretch were excellent. Honestly, I'd rather see Rollins take the straight-up pinfall loss than getting disqualified. We get too many of those finishes these days that I'm sick of seeing them. Rollins doesn't lose much since it was a holiday show and the babyfaces almost always go over. #AskGSM Edition #58: Randy Orton's Return, Roman Reigns' Popularity, Elimination Chamber, More12/22/2014 ![]() By Graham "GSM" Matthews #AskGSM is a weekly Q&A video where I, Graham "GSM" Matthews, answer fan questions from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in regards to the world of wrestling.
