Michin Crashed Nia Jax's WWE Women's Championship CelebrationJax and Tiffany Stratton have been a fun pairing for the last month or so, but I'm all in on adding Pretty Deadly to the act. They compliment Jax and specifically Stratton extremely well. This was a good segment to kick off the show and it was interesting that only Michin showed up to crash it and not Bayley. Michin hasn't won too many matches on SmackDown, but I appreciate that she's getting consistent television time. Carmelo Hayes def. AndradeThese matches Hayes and Andrade have been having have been top-notch and they've definitely been helping them get over with the audience. Just get them the time to do their thing and let them shine. This was another entertaining encounter as part of their rivalry and Hayes needed to go over to avoid looking like a loser. Their post-match brawl confirms their feud will continue as it should. Blair Davenport def. NaomiDavenport's main roster run hasn't exactly gotten off the strongest start, so it was imperative that she pick up her first win here. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary about their match, but that was the correct outcome. Hopefully the fact that she beat Naomi in Naomi's hometown puts more heat on her. The six-woman tag team match with Davenport, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn vs. Naomi, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill happens next Friday night. Kevin Owens def. Grayson WallerWe've seen Owens work with Waller and Austin Theory so much since last fall that I'd be content if we never saw another match between them again. That's not to say their matches are poorly wrestled, but I feel like if you've seen one of their outings, you've seen them all. This was solid and the crowd was into Owens per usual. The subtle tension between Owens and Cody Rhodes afterward was well done. United States Champion LA Knight Addressed Santos EscobarThere was a really cool vignette with Escobar and the rest of Legado del Fantasma that aired right before this with Escobar talking about beating Knight for the United States Championship next week. Knight responding in front of the live crowd made sense given how popular he is, and he kept his rebuttal short and sweet. There's no chance Escobar takes that title from Knight this soon, but they've done a nice job of building it up in just two weeks. The Street Profits def. #DIY in the Finals of the WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contender's TournamentThe Profits have been around since 2017 (starting with their run in NXT) and #DIY have been teaming in the company for even longer than that, yet this marked their first match ever against each other. Despite the babyface vs. babyface dynamic, the crowd was behind both teams and were into the action. The Profits have been looking for revenge on The Bloodline for a while now, so I had no issue with them winning (#DIY can always get their rematch down the road). The Profits will face The Bloodline for the tag titles on next week's show. The Bloodline Attacked Roman ReignsThis was shaping up to be an exact repeat of last week's show-closing segment until Jacob Fatu showed up (in a damn walking boot!) to oget the better of Reigns and help Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga put him through the commentary table. I was about to say that Reigns destroyed The Bloodline in under two weeks, but they corrected course with The Bloodline standing tall. This was a great segment. Reigns isn't advertised for any more SmackDown shows until next month, so I assume this was designed to write him off until then. Overall ShowWith the show emanating from Orlando, there were plenty of NXT cameos in the crowd. WWE crowds have largely been hot this year, but I didn't expect this Orlando crowd to be as loud as they were. They added to my enjoyment of the episode, which would have been average otherwise. Andrade vs. Hayes and the tag team match provided some strong wrestling, and the final segment was excellent as well. The blue brand has bounced back in a big way coming out of SummerSlam.
