The Miz Interrupted Joe Hendry's Concert; Hendry def. Miz in a Miracle on 34th Street FightThis stemmed from Hendry laying out Miz at the most recent Saturday Night's Main Event. WWE has to be careful not to run too many Hendry concerts and ruin whatever appeal they have since he has another one coming up on Tuesday's NXT. The concert itself was whatever, as was the impromptu Miracle on 34the Street Fight, but hey, I'm just happy we got one this one (NXT's Christmas Chaos matches aren't the same thing!). It was total throwaway/holiday campiness, but personally, I have no issue with this sort of stuff when it's done sparingly. My bigger takeaway was that Hendry was instantly over with the crowd, which is an encouraging sign for his future on the main roster. Charlotte Flair def. Lash LegendThe booking of this feud has been extremely basic so far. I'm not sure what they can really do to change that, but having one tag team wrestler face someone from the opposing tag team isn't interesting and it's not like the matches have been much to write home about. This was serviceable, but I'm not a fan of Legend already losing this early into her main roster run. That said, she'll be fine, and I understand not wanting to beat Flair too much before she inevitably goes after Jade Cargill's WWE Women's Championship, ideally before WrestleMania 42. Carmelo Hayes def. Ilja Dragunov to Win the United States ChampionshipBackstage earlier in the show, Dragunov offered Hayes another opportunity at the title after Tommaso Ciampa cost Hayes the win in their last match a few weeks ago. Unsurprisingly, they had yet another banger. The action was excellent and the crowd was super into all of the nearfalls down the stretch. Hayes actually winning was awesome. He spent most of 2025 spinning his wheels, so going into the new year with gold is a great step in the right direction for him. I'm just curious what this means for Dragunov going forward. Giulia and Kiana James def. Women's United States Champion and AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green and Alba FyreI mentioned that the booking of the women's tag team feud has been basic, but the booking of the Women's United States Championship picture has been far worse. Did Green and Fyre ever technically turn face? Do fans have any incentive to care about any of this? The answer to both questions is no. Giulia pinning Green should lead to them having a rematch for the belt, but again, none of this means anything. Drew McIntyre Attacked Undisputed WWE Champion Cody RhodesMcIntyre started the segment by apologizing to referee Dan Engler for attacking him a while ago before quickly going back on it. He then announced he and Rhodes would face off again for the Undisputed WWE Championship in two weeks when SmackDown is in Germany and that the stipulation would be Three Stages of Hell (how long has it been since they did one on the main roster?). McIntyre standing tall over Rhodes to end it was well done, but now the key is McIntyre winning when it matters most when the title is on the line. Do I have faith that he will? Unfortunately, not really. Overall ShowPour one out for the final two-hour SmackDown, at least for the foreseeable future. I dread the blue brand going back to three hours next week, especially since the experiment didn't work when it was three hours for the first half of 2025. Nonetheless, this was a better-than-expected edition of SmackDown to close out the year. Hendry vs. Miz was dumb fun, the U.S. title changing hands was huge, the McIntyre vs. Rhodes rematch was made official, and we got some teases for new blood coming to Friday nights in Trick Williams and Oba Femi. The women's scene remains a mess and needs an overhaul more than anything else on the show going into 2026.
