Jimmy Uso Saved LA Knight from Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga After Paul Heyman Interrupted KnightKnight's exchange with Heyman helped hype his Saturday Night's Main Event match with Seth Rollins and the rest of the segment set up the tag team match with him and Uso against Sikoa and Mateo for later in the night. This was fine, but I can't say I'm overly excited for Uso vs. Sikoa at Saturday Night's Main Event. I'm even less excited about Knight being involved with the knockoff Bloodline again, even if it's just for one night. Alexa Bliss def. Kairi Sane, NXT Women's North American Champion Sol Ruca and WWE Tag Team Champion Roxanne Perez in a Fatal 4-Way Match (Non-Title)I understand this was meant to preview the Fatal 4-Way tag team match at Evolution, but we've seen so many damn Fatal 4-Way and Triple Threat matches on WWE TV (and even AEW TV for that matter) that it's hard for any of them to stand out at this point, especially when they're average at best. I applaud the effort of the women, but there just wasn't anything out of the ordinary about this outside of Ruca having her usual impressive performance. She'll be a star on the main roster when the time comes. The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis) def. The Street Profits to Win the WWE Tag Team ChampionshipThe dynamic was just as odd as it was the last time these teams faced each other because they're two babyface teams, leading to the crowd being quiet for a majority of it. To their credit, they had a good match that got better as it progressed. Wyatt Sicks needed to win something meaningful eventually, so I'm happy with the title change and it made for a cool moment. Time will tell what kind of reign they have and how well they work with the rest of the division. Jelly Roll Saved Randy Orton from Drew McIntyre and Logan PaulThere have been rumblings for a while of Jelly Roll wrestling at SummerSlam, potentially in a tag team match, and that was pretty much confirmed here. Jelly and Orton vs. Paul and McIntyre looks to be the play. If WWE sees that as an attraction, then so be it, but I couldn't care less, personally. Nothing against Jelly, who seems to be a genuine fan (and props to him on the significant weigh loss, by the way), but I'd rather see that spot go to someone on the actual roster. The angle played out nicely, for whatever that's worth. R-Truth def. Aleister BlackI appreciate the story that's been told with Truth and Black in recent weeks, but it hasn't done either of them any favors so far. Truth (who really should be officially referred to as Ron Killings by WWE) has lost a lot of steam since returning to the company while Black should be racking up wins. Black losing to Truth via a roll-up in roughly two minutes was lame and the match itself was whatever, but Black attacking Damian Priest backstage afterward gives me hope he'll have direction going forward as a heel. WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton and Trish Stratus Exchanged Words; Naomi and Jade Cargill BrawledIt was weird neither of them got entrances, but that may have been because the Jelly Roll segment went over its allotted time and the women were the victims of it. They tried to give their match some last-minute build, but I'm sorry, this segment offered very little of value. The mic work from Stratton and Stratus was generic and did nothing to leave me looking forward to their matchup (outside of knowing they'll deliver when the bell rings). Meanwhile, the brawl between Naomi and Cargill was more of the same from them, but it was what it needed to be ahead of their No Holds Barred bout. LA Knight and Jimmy Uso def. United States Champion Solo Sikoa and JC MateoThis was virtually the same main event as last week, just with Knight filling in for Jacob Fatu. The in-ring action was no different and Sikoa got pinned again, this time by Knight. The dude won the United States Championship less than two weeks ago and has already been pinned twice! His reign isn't exactly off to a stellar start, to say the least. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed emerged afterward to lay out Knight. Knight's going to look like a real loser if he can't beat Rollins tomorrow night. Overall ShowI was not a fan of this show. The hype for both Saturday Night's Main Event and Evolution were decent, but the "progression" of the United States Championship picture was lazy, Black vs. Truth was a blink-and-you-missed-it match, the stuff with Jelly Roll doesn't do much for me, and four-ways have been overdone to death. I liked the title change, but that's honestly about it.
