Charlotte Flair def. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Raquel RodriguezFlair and Alexa Bliss were announced as receiving a shot at the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship at SummerSlam, and no, they didn't earn the opportunity with Flair beating Rodriguez by. Rather, Flair outright admitted it was because of she's who she is, which is what fans have been led to believe in the past. At any rate, this was a well-worked opener and the crowd reactions to Flair and Bliss as partners continue to be super positive. Damian Priest def. Carmelo Hayes by DisqualificationThis was the first time I've seen Hayes in SmackDown in God knows how long. Remember, he's the same guy who won the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal earlier in the year, further proving that trophy means absolutely nothing. What happened to him being managed by The Miz? Whatever. The match itself was enjoyable and the non-finish was fine because it at least protected Hayes in defeat. Aleister Black got good heat for attacking Priest and he was dressed in a suit, looking like he did during his AEW stint when he was leading House of Black. Jacob Fatu and Jimmy Uso Attacked United States Champion Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tonga Loa and Tala TangaThe aftermath of a car accident involving Solo Sikoa and his crew was shown to start the show. Jacob Fatu was originally the person of interest before he was cleared, so he and Jimmy Uso went on to attack the group after Sikoa spoke in the ring. In addition to Sikoa being revealed as the one who staged his own car accident, Adam Pearce announced that it will be Sikoa vs. Fatu in a Steel Cage match for the United States Championship at SummerSlam. Stephanie Vaquer def. Alba FyreYes, Vaquer is a Raw Superstar, but Chelsea Green (a SmackDown Superstar) competed on Monday's Raw, so it hardly matters at this point. Also, poor Alba Fyre. Hey, I'm glad she wasn't released like her previous tag team partner, but she's a total jobber in this role. This was a very quick squash for Vaquer, but considering how Fyre has been booked since joining The Secret Hervice, it probably would've been unrealistic for this to last any longer than it did. Andrade & Rey Fenix def. #DIY, The Motor City Machine Guns, and Fraxiom in a WWE Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contender's Fatal 4-Way Tag Team MatchI appreciate that the time the stacked SmackDown tag team division is receiving for their matches hasn't drastically decreased despite the show going back to two hours. This was given an ample amount of time and was the fun, fast-paced four-way you'd expect with all of the talent in there. Andrade and Fenix will get their shot at the tag titles on next week's show. Cody Rhodes Attacked Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena During Their SummerSlam Contract SigningCena was in total heel mode claiming that he'll be missing SummerSlam due to filming a movie, and he was better here than he has been in the past while delivering his promo. Rhodes thankfully retaliated by attacking him while Cena was walking back up the ramp and left him laying in the ring before declaring their SummerSlam match will be a Street Fight. With this being Cena's only WWE TV appearance all month, it was what it needed to be, though Rhodes forcing Cena to sign the contract isn't how contract signings are supposed to work. Overall ShowThis wasn't a very strong show on the whole, but for the record, SmackDown is still far more bearable at two hours than it ever was at three hours. SummerSlam is two weeks from tomorrow, so it was crucial that they announced more matches for the card and they did just that, in addition to make Cena vs. Rhodes a Street Fight. The four-way tag team match was easily the best thing on the episode from an in-ring standpoint, but everything else needed to happen in order to move stuff forward.
