Jey Uso def. Rusev in a The Last Time Is Now Tournament Quarterfinal MatchApparently this marked the first time these two have ever gone one-on-one. That didn't make much of a difference as it wasn't the most exciting encounter. There wasn't anything egregiously wrong with it, mind you, but the crowd didn't seem to care and I don't have any desire to see either Uso or Rusev be John Cena's final opponent. Whatever happened to Uso teasing a heel turn or at least more of an aggressive edge? WWE Women's Champion Jade Cargill Crashed Women's United States Champion and AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green's Championship CelebrationGreen regained the Women's Tag Team Championship three weeks ago, but we only just got her championship celebration now. It was rather brief with Cargill quickly coming down to the ring, laying waste to both Green and Alba Fyre, and then leaving. She came off like a babyface champion, but the problem is that she turned heel a month ago. Maybe Green is the one turning face, but either way, this was a confusing segment and I have no idea what it was supposed to accomplish. LA Knight def. The Miz in a The Last Time Is Now Tournament Quarterfinal MatchSheamus had to be pulled from the tourney because of a legitimate shoulder injury, so he was replaced with Miz, who already lost in the first round to Uso but wormed his way back in because he put his name in a ball Nick Aldis was holding when he wasn't looking. Yes, it was lame. Surely WWE could've done something more interesting than that, even though I assume this all came together at the last minute because of Sheamus' status. Nonetheless, Knight and Miz had their usual quality contest, and Knight advancing was obviously the correct outcome. Charlotte Flair def. Asuka in a WarGames Advantage MatchWe've seen Flair vs. Asuka so many times over the years that this wasn't really anything out of the ordinary, not to mention the crowd sat on their hands for a majority of it. However, I liked how Flair mentioned earlier in the evening that it was Asuka who she got hurt against two years ago, so this was her way of getting a measure of revenge. The babyfaces standing tall here and on Monday's Raw has me thinking we might get a heel win for the women in WarGames, despite that not being my original prediction. The MFTs (Solo Sikoa, Talla Tonga, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo) def. Sami Zayn, Rey Fenix, The Motor City Machine Guns and Shinsuke Nakamura in a 5-on-5 Survivor Series Tag Team Elimination MatchThis was presented commercial-free, which was a pleasant surprise. With the constant complaining I saw online from this show's spoilers that were out a week ago, I feared The MFTs completely squashed Zayn's team, but that wasn't the case at all. I guess people were just upset that The MFTs won, and I can understand that to a degree, but it had to happen if The MFTs are going to be feuding with The Wyatt Sicks going forward (Uncle Howdy even attacked Sikoa after this was over). All of that aside, I enjoyed this main event. I wish it we got these Survivor Series elimination matches at the event itself again, but I'm glad we got one over Survivor Series weekend at all. It was laid out logically and had some good action. Overall ShowIt was painfully apparent this was a taped show because of how quiet the crowd was for almost everything. On one hand, I'm happy WWE gives its talent certain holidays off and it's better than piping in fake crowd noise, but the taped shows can be a chore to sit through sometimes. The crowd is exhausted and the effort WWE puts forth is minimal. None of these matches were meaningless, but only the main event stood out. The two tourney matches were bland and the women's segment was... something. Only Flair vs. Asuka had anything to do with Saturday's premium live event, so as a go-home show, it was poor.
