WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill Exchanged WordsStratton coming out and demanding a fight with Cargill made sense after Cargill blindsided and attacked her last week. That said, there really wasn't much to this segment at all, and it's not like we got more from them later on, either. Rather, they kept short and sweet ahead of their WWE Women's Championship clash at Saturday Night's Main Event. My mind has not changed: Cargill must take that title from Stratton on Saturday or risk losing whatever momentum she has coming off her heel turn. United States Champion Ilja Dragunov def. Nathan FrazerFrazer was the perfect person to answer Dragunov's open challenge. WWE has cooled off Fraxiom significantly since the summer, so this was an excellent opportunity for Frazier to show what he can do on his own. Unsurprisingly, they had a hell of an encounter, despite the title never truly feeling like it was in jeopardy. I do hope we get Dragunov vs. Tommaso Ciampa soon because that has the potential to be a banger, too. Carmelo Hayes def. Kit WilsonWilson not using the Pretty Deadly entrance music was interesting. Shouldn't his injured partner be back in the near future? Not a major deal either way, but I thought that was worth noting. Nonetheless, this was a nice match from these two and slightly more competitive than I expected it to be. Although The Miz failed to cost Hayes the win, he did leave Hayes laying afterward. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Alexa Bliss def. Nia JaxI appreciated that the commentators put over all of the history these two have, even though they've never had the strongest in-ring chemistry. That was once again evident in this outing, which wasn't very smooth or enjoyable. The wonky execution of the finish didn't help, either. I have to imagine this is leading to Jax recruiting a partner to challenge Bliss and Charlotte Flair for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, and I have a feeling it might be NXT's Lash Legend based on recent rumors. The MFTs (Tama Tonga and JC Mateo) def. The Motor City Machine GunsIt was acknowledged that it was almost exactly one year ago that the Guns beat the then-Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Championship. Unfortunately, it didn't work out as well for the Guns this time around. The match was decent but only seemed to exist to put more heat on The MFTs. That continued in the post-match angle with The MFTs also attacking Rey Fenix and Shinsuke Nakamura. I'm shocked The Wyatt Sicks didn't confront The MFTs this week considering it's Halloween. Drew McIntyre Attacked Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes During the Undisputed WWE Championship Contract SigningWe got a contract signing from these two before Wrestlepalooza as well and I was worried it'd be more of the same, but this ended up being pretty good with solid mic work from both guys and it being established that Rhodes can lose the title by disqualification or count-out when they go one-on-one. McIntyre putting Rhodes through the table and standing tall to close the segment was necessary, but it won't matter unless McIntyre actually beats Rhodes at Saturday Night's Main Event, and I'm skeptical he will. Overall ShowOutside of the graphics and the cool set pieces, there was absolutely nothing Halloween-themed about this edition of SmackDown. While that's probably for the better, I'm a sucker for the annual Trick or Street Fight and we didn't get one this year. Instead, we were left with a fairly mundane show. I liked the contract signing, but other than Dragunov vs. Frazer, there's nothing you need to seek out. Not only that, but it wasn't a very effective go-home show for Saturday Night's Main Event, either. All in all, this was an underwhelming episode.
