Adam Pearce Announced Naomi vs. Rhea Ripley vs. IYO SKY for the Women's World Championship at SummerSlamNaomi kicking off the show coming off her huge Women's World Championship win at the end of Evolution was cool to see. This segment played out predictably with Ripley and SKY staking their claim at a title shot, only for Pearce to announce a Triple Threat for SummerSlam. I'm glad they didn't waste any time in making it official with SummerSlam coming up in less than three weeks. I really hope Naomi's title reign isn't cut short at SummerSlam because she's on fire right now. WWE Tag Team Champions The Judgment Day (Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez) def. The Kabuki Warriors (Non-Title)Between what we saw at Evolution and here, it's clear Perez and Rodriguez are quickly developing chemistry as partners. This was a nice match and Judgment Day winning was the right call. I wouldn't have been shocked to see Judgment Day lose to set up a rematch for the titles (WWE Booking 101), but I hope they're reserving that spot for Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam instead. Lyra Valkyria def. Bayley in a Women's Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender's 2-out-of-3 Falls MatchThe first two falls were fairly rushed, but it was still cool we got a two-out-of-three falls match with the women for a change. The third fall was where they picked up the pace and the crowd got invested in the action. This turned into a great match and had the correct outcome. SummerSlam should be where Valkyria gets the belt back from Lynch and it should have some sort of a stipulation. Nikki Bella def. Chelsea GreenYes, Green is a SmackDown Superstar, but the Brand Split hardly matters these days, so I can't pretend to care. More importantly, Green finally got her long-awaited one-on-one match with Bella. It wasn't anything special, but Bella held her own despite not having wrestled a singles match since the first Evolution seven years ago. The post-match angle with Stephanie Vaquer saving Bella from The Secret Hervice sets up a tag team match for a future episode. Maybe we get it at SummerSlam since Vaquer isn't getting her guaranteed championship match until Clash in Paris? Bron Breakker and Paul Heyman Confronted World Heavyweight Champion GuntherYou had to know someone from the subsequent Gauntlet match would interrupt Gunther's promo, but everything he said prior to that point was solid and I hope he continues to play up how he retired Goldberg for heat. Heyman's promo hyped up Breakker big time and planted the seeds for him possibly winning the Gauntlet. We aren't getting Gunther vs. Breakker at SummerSlam, but I do look forward to that feud when we inevitably get it. CM Punk def. Bron Breakker, Jey Uso, LA Knight and Penta in a World Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender's Gauntlet MatchBreakker's match with Penta was largely one-sided with Penta only scoring some offense before eating defeat. Breakker vs. Knight was more competitive, but it was obvious Breakker was advancing. Uso vs. Breakker was hotter yet even more obvious because WWE sure as hell wasn't running back Gunther vs. Uso yet again. Punk vs. Breakker told the story that it needed to with Uso thwarting Bronson Reed's interference and Punk securing the victory. Roman Reigns' return afterward was expected, but it was well done. I thought we might get Reigns vs. Breakker at SummerSlam, but Reigns teaming with Uso against Breakker and Reed in a tag team match seems to be the move. Overall ShowThis was a great edition of Raw. The women taking center stage for the first hour and a half was wise coming off the critically-acclaimed Evolution event. Now the key is doing that more consistently and elevating the division as a whole. A good Gauntlet match with SummerSlam stakes and a newsworthy return ended the night on a high note, and all of the SummerSlam announcements with necessary with the show fast approaching.
