Women's World Champion IYO SKY Attacked WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Liv MorganThis was an interesting segment to start the show with. I'm not complaining as it was a nice change of pace and there wasn't anything technically wrong with it, but it felt like it belonged elsewhere on the episode since there wasn't any significant developments other than planting the seeds for a future match between Morgan and Sky. Perhaps this would've amounted to something had Morgan vs. Kairi Sane been cut short later on. Asuka def. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez, Ivy Nile and Stephanie Vaquer in a Queen of the Ring Quarterfinal Fatal 4-Way MatchAsuka getting her CFO$ entrance music was an awesome surprise. It was either her or Vaquer advancing, and considering Vaquer just debuted and was already in Money in the Bank, Asuka advancing was the better choice. Vaquer will be fine, especially since she wasn't the one pinned. This was another fun Fatal 4-Way with Rhea Ripley getting revenge on Rodriguez for costing her the win last week. Goldberg Confronted World Heavyweight Champion GuntherGunther's promo discussing his win over Jey Uso last week was basic yet logical. He acknowledged that Uso was the better man at WrestleMania 41 but that the belt is back where it belongs: with him. Goldberg coming out to set up that match for Saturday Night's Main Event was expected, but it was well done. It was announced that it'd be for the World Heavyweight Championship, but there was no mention of it being Goldberg's retirement match, which it should be. AJ Styles def. JD McDonaghStyles knocked off Finn Balor last month as well as Chad Gable last week, so McDonagh was a definite step down in competition, but the match made sense with Styles setting his sights on Dominik Mysterio's Intercontinental Championship. They had a quality contest and made the most of the time they had. I don't see Styles taking the title at Night of Champions, but at least he has direction right now. Bayley Attacked Women's Intercontinental Champion Becky LynchI know Lynch is one of WWE's biggest stars male or female, so I can understand why she gets a lot of mic time, but the fact this storyline with her, Bayley and Lyra Valkyria has worked as well as it has should convince the higher-ups to give more women the same opportunities. As for the segment itself, it was strong stuff from these two. They'll clash for the Women's Intercontinental Championship next week on Raw, and I assume Valkyria will factor into the finish somehow. WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane def. Liv Morgan by Referee StoppageMan, this was really unfortunate. The match barely got started before Morgan landed poorly on her right arm and apparently injured her shoulder. Morgan has been such a significant part of Raw's women's division for the last year that it'd be a big blow to the division. Who knows how long exactly she'll be out for, but barring a miracle, it's virtually guaranteed she's missing Evolution and SummerSlam in New Jersey. That sucks, and I have no idea how WWE plans to pivot. Jey Uso def. Bronson Reed, Sheamus and Rusev in a King of the Ring Quarterfinal Fatal 4-Way MatchAs the eighth Fatal 4-Way we gotten in the last seven days, I wouldn't blame any fans fatigued by the format by this point, but this was a blast. The non-stop action was entertaining and all the interference actually added to it. Uso being the "mystery" man of the match (as announced on social media a few days ago) was a disappointment, but I get wanting to do Uso vs. Cody Rhodes in the semifinals. Overall ShowThe King and Queen of the Ring tournament matches continue to carry these shows simply for the above-average match quality. The Goldberg return was obviously notable, but WWE simultaneously building toward Night of Champions, Saturday Night's Main Event and Evolution is excessive. They need to make sure each of those events deliver and feel as special as they should. This wasn't as hot as last week's episode, but it was enjoyable on the whole, nonetheless.
