Jey Uso Confronted Oba FemiI still don't think Uso belongs in the finals of King of the Ring, but admittedly, I'm slightly compelled by the dynamic that he has with Femi because Uso has been obnoxious and Femi is a badass. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary about their verbal exchange, but it accomplished what it needed to as far as building toward their match at Night of Champions. WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Paige and Brie Bella def. Lyra Valkyria and BayleyIt's cool that Paige had a chance to compete in her home country as well as go over. I would've been down for Valkyria and Bayley finally becoming champs together, but WWE opted to skip that stage and go right to them feuding. Bayley turning heel would have made more sense in my opinion, and I'm skeptical of how Valkyria will do in that role, but I'll give it a chance. The tag title match was decent, but it was immediately overshadowed by the post-match angle. Alpha Academy Declined Chad Gable's ApologyThis is what I want out of wrestling more than anything: more logical character development. WWE could have easily moved on with Gable now that he's a babyface, but I love that he's apologizing to everyone he wronged during his heel run. This was perfectly executed, right down to Maxxine Dupri rejecting his apology because of how he treated her. Dupri could already be seen interacting with The Vision in various backstage segments, so I'm sure this is all a part of her heel turn. Ethan Page def. Dragon LeePage hasn't been getting as aggressive of a push since failing to win the Intercontinental Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event, but at least his television time has largely been consistent. The crowd was quiet for this contest as I assumed they would be, but it was a well-wrestled affair. Page winning was the right outcome, but there was no indication of what's next for him. IYO SKY Attacked Women's World Champion Liv MorganThis followed the same formula as the opening segment in that it was a pair of basic promos from the remaining women in the Queen of the Ring tournament. This had a little less energy, though, maybe because it's more obvious that Morgan isn't winning the whole thing. Sure, SKY got the better of Morgan here, but I don't see that as a sign that SKY is losing come Saturday. LA Knight def. Jimmy UsoDespite both guys being fan favorites, the crowd was fairly quiet for this, probably because they weren't sure what to think of Knight having an issue with The Usos and especially Solo Sikoa aiding Knight to victory. This was solid, but I have no idea where any of this is going. Consider me mildly intrigued, but I'm not convinced WWE exactly knows where they're going with this story, either. The Street Profits def. The Vision (Austin Theory and Bron Breakker) to Win the World Tag Team ChampionshipThis wasn't nearly as entertaining as the Profits' first match with The Vision back at Saturday Night's Main Event. It was a nice match, but it was pretty pedestrian stuff until down the stretch when Joe Hendry returned to thwart Logan Paul's interference and Rollins showed up to cost distract Breakker. The Profits taking the tag titles was necessary, but it's not like it makes much of a difference since the Raw tag team division desperately lacks depth. Overall ShowCorey Graves also hosted a pre-taped, sit-down interview with Seth Rollins right before the main event where they briefly discussed the Steel Cage bout between Bron Breakker and Rollins at Night of Champions. I didn't think it wasn't worth devoting an entire paragraph to, but I did like the segment. Anyway, this was a more eventful go-home show than I was expecting. Valkyria turning heel and the World Tag Team Championship changing hands were both notable developments, and Gable's apology to Alpha Academy made for an excellent segment. This was an easy thumbs-up episode that kept me engaged throughout.
