Jey Uso and CM Punk Went Face-to-FaceThis was a solid segment and all, but imagine how much better it could have been had it been LA Knight in there with Punk instead of Uso. I understand Uso has been a focal point on Raw for weeks (and really all year), but even with the edge he's had as of late, I have no interest seeing him back in the World Heavyweight Championship picture at the moment. Despite that, he and Punk did what they could to hype their championship clash for Saturday Night's Main Event. Penta vs. Rusev in an Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender's Match Ended in a No ContestWe've seen Penta and Rusev challenge for the Intercontinental title multiple times already, so I expected this would have an indecisive finish to set up a Triple Threat with Dominik Mysterio. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened and we'll be getting it at Saturday Night's Main Event. Prior to that point, though, I'm glad they were allowed to have an enjoyable outing that the crowd was into. Roxanne Perez def. Nikki BellaIt's sad that I automatically assumed Perez would lose when this was announced on social media a few days ago. Thankfully, that was not the case. The match itself was decent and they filled the time well. Post-match, Perez and Raquel Rodriguez continued attacking Bella before Stephanie Vaquer made the save. The logical tag team matchup was announced for next week's Raw. Bron Breakker def. LA KnightThis was a tough situation because neither guy should be losing right now, but it made more sense for Breakker to go over coming off his betrayal of Seth Rollins. I hate that Knight lost yet again, but my bigger issue is that he lacks direction. At least they had a strong match with Knight being outnumbered and not losing completely clean. Breakker and Bronson Reed should be doing something significant soon, though. If they spin their wheels for too long, they'll run the risk of losing their momentum. JD McDonagh def. SheamusSeveral Superstars have gotten their old entrance music lately, but Sheamus is not yet among them. That needs to change as soon as possible. Nonetheless, this was a really good match from these two. I figured they'd have a straightforward squash where Sheamus would win with ease, so I was pleasantly surprised it was the quality contest they were capable of and even more pleasantly surprised that McDonagh actually won. WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss def. Bayley and Lyra ValkyriaIt was smart to have this close the show. It had star power and an unpredictable outcome, along with the fact it helped make the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship feel more important. They started out slow but captured the crowd with a lot of their nearfalls. The Kabuki Warriors laying out Bayley and Valkyria afterward seems to plant the seeds for women's WarGames next month. Overall ShowWhile this wasn't a huge show by any means (there were no major storyline developments or anything you need to seek out), I did think it was an entertaining edition of Raw on the whole that was largely carried by the above-average action and a hot crowd. The hype for Saturday Night's Main Event was fine, but I'm skeptical. It could go either way depending on the booking.
