Roman Reigns Attacked Bronson ReedIt was obvious Reigns would make the card for Crown Jewel following his return to Raw last week, and I'm glad it's going to be Reigns vs. Reed again. Granted, the crowd barely reacted to the Australian Street Fight announcement (and I don't blame them because we see Street Fights/No Disqualification matches all the time in WWE these days), but Reed deserves the solo spotlight in his native Australia, especially after missing Elimination Chamber in Australia last year. This was a solid segment to establish their match and the physicality at the end was well done. Maxxine Dupri def. Women's Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch by Count-Out (Non-Title)Well, this certainly exceeded my expectations. Lynch previously squashed Dupri two months ago, and although they told essentially the same story in this rematch, it worked a lot better here. Props to Dupri for having an awesome showing, and Lynch continues to prove why she's the MVP of WWE's women's division with the work she's doing. Lynch looked like a moron for unintentionally ignoring the referee's 10 count, but I have no issue with Lynch and Dupri having a rematch with the title on the line. Roxanne Perez def. Lyra ValkyriaThis was a rematch from a few weeks ago and it was along the same lines as their previous encounter. It was well wrestled but told a similar story with Bayley's presence at ringside backfiring. Hey, at least Perez finally won on her own for a change. It was announced later on that it will be Perez and Raquel Rodriguez vs. Valkyria and Bayley on next week's episode. The Usos Attacked LA Knight and CM PunkI was curious what Punk would have to say since Rollins is currently busy with Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel and their business is clearly unfinished, but he simply reiterated he wants Rollins' World Heavyweight Championship. Knight and Jey Uso remaining in the mix is hardly surprising. Yes, we just got a Fatal 4-Way with all of them at Clash in Paris, but I'd definitely be down for Punk vs. Knight vs. Uso in a number one contender's Triple Threat sometime soon. This was a great segment to set up the tag team main event and the verbal exchange between Punk and Knight was especially entertaining. Kairi Sane def. IYO SKYThis marked the first-ever one-on-one outing between these two in WWE. Sane isn't a full-fledged heel in the same way Asuka is, so that hurt the crowd's reaction to this match, but it was very good, regardless. Sane picking up the win (albeit with Asuka's help) genuinely shocked me. Rhea Ripley didn't help SKY afterward because she's already in Australia doing media for Crown Jewel. AJ Styles, Dragon Lee and Penta def. The Judgment Day (Intercontinental Champion and AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio and World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor and JD McDonagh)I had hope the returning Ilja Dragunov would be Styles and Lee's mystery partner, but no such luck. Nothing against Penta, but much like Styles and Lee, I have zero interest in him going back to feuding with Judgment Day. On the bright side, this was a fun six-man tag team affair. Styles pinned McDonagh for the victory, but it will be Penta challenging Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship next week. CM Punk and LA Knight def. The UsosYou knew this wouldn't last long based on how late into the show it started, but for what it was, it was a quality main event, focused less on the in-ring action and more on teasing tension with Knight stealing the win from Punk. Knight hasn't done a whole lot winning these last few months, so this was huge for him and I appreciated that he beat Jey and not Jimmy (which wouldn't have meant as much). I maintain that Knight turning heel may not be the best idea, but if it leads to Punk vs. Knight eventually, I can't complain. Overall ShowRaw hasn't been a horrible show lately by any means (it's been far more bearable than SmackDown most weeks), but this was a significantly stronger show than usual. The women stuff was top-notch and I loved the little story beats threaded throughout the show. Even the final hype for Crown Jewel was well done with some excellent video packages for Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins and Cena vs. Styles. I really enjoyed this episode.
