Rhea Ripley Confronted Women's World Champion Liv Morgan and "Dirty" Dominik MysterioThe Morgan vs. Ripley rivalry has been slightly overshadowed by the overall feud between The Terror Twins and The Judgment Day, so I'm glad the focus was back on their own issue with each other in this segment. Yes, Dominik was out there, too, but he's played a prominent role in the storyline and I like that they established he'll be hanging above the ring in a shark cage during the Women's World Championship match at Bad Blood. This was a strong segment to start the show. Sami Zayn def. Ludwig KaiserKaiser will need to rack up wins eventually to build some credibility for himself as a singles star, but he continues to have impressive performances. This was another very good match from him and having an opponent as skilled as Zayn obviously didn't hurt. Despite Zayn's victory, it wasn't enough to convince Gunther to give him a title shot as Gunther again told him no afterward. They only have one week left to make it official for Bad Blood unless they intend to save it for Crown Jewel in early November. Dragon Lee def. CarlitoLee has had a disappointing 2024 after a great start on the main roster late last year. The guy's an amazing athlete. They just have to let him shine and win more matches, so this was an acceptable step in that direction. There wasn't much to the match, but it was what it needed to be. I appreciated that Carlito costing Lee his WrestleMania moment earlier in the year was acknowledged on story to give the matchup more meaning. Bronson Reed vs. The Miz Never Got UnderwayI'm sure I'm not the only one who had no issue with Reed vs. Miz not happening since we already saw it twice last month and what we got instead here was much better. The latest brawl between Reed and Braun Strowman was a blast and the crowd ate it up. We got the announcement later that Reed and Strowman will fight in a Last Monster Standing match on next week's Raw. That's a fitting stipulation for the finale of their feud. Drew McIntyre Addressed CM PunkMcIntyre spoke with the same intensity that Punk did last week and it made for another excellent promo. Personally, I preferred Punk's promo, but this was still effective in hyping up their Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood. On a related note, Fightful reported earlier today that they may not be headlining the event after all, so expect them to be extra motivated to steal the show. Damage CTRL (IYO SKY and Kairi Sane) def. The Unholy UnionNow that Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn aren't WWE Women's Tag Team Champions anymore, it was logical to use them to elevate another team toward title contention. These teams had a nice match. The crowd rallying behind SKY was especially noticeable, so they're clearly getting over in that role. Damage CTRL vs. Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair for the belts at some point should be fun. The Creed Brothers def. The New Day (Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston)American Made lost every single one of their matches against The Wyatt Sicks, so this was a necessary victory for them. Plus, the loss furthers the frustration New Day has been experiencing as of late, specifically Woods. I was pleasantly surprised this got as much time as it did and it was a quality contest. The stuff with New Day is officially the most intriguing angle on Raw right now. Jey Uso def. Bron Breakker to Win the Intercontinental ChampionshipThe video package they put together hyping this championship clash earlier in the evening was terrific and upped my excitement for it. This was a really entertaining main event with a hot crowd throughout and a fantastic final few minutes. There's been so much talk about Uso wanting to win a singles title before the end of the year, so he had to win when it mattered most eventually. I just wasn't sure if it would be here and I'm happy it was. The crowd exploded and it was a memorable moment. Breakker can get the belt back before long, but it was important to give Uso a big victory for a change. Overall ShowRaw's on a roll right now and has been for several weeks. This was another above-average edition of Raw with the Intercontinental Championship changing hands, Reed and Strowman furthering their feud in exciting fashion, New Day progressing their storyline, more solid hype for Bad Blood, and the usual enjoyable action. I'm actually curious if Raw reverting back to two hours in two weeks will hurt the show's momentum at all.
