Alpha Academy Interrupted The Vision; Otis def. World Tag Team Champion Austin Theory by DisqualificationI appreciated that we got to hear from each member of The Vision (including Maxxine Dupri), but I would have preferred for the focus to be fully on the returning Bronson Reed. He cut a very good, intense promo in the time he was allotted and I hope he gets an aggressive push now that he's back and looking better than ever. The subsequent match between Theory and Otis was fine. I was surprised it came together on a whim, but the disqualification finish allows them to revisit it at some point. Also, I figured they'd keep Oba Femi off the show for at least one week, but apparently not. I did like that he attempted to take The Vision but was unsuccessful. The Vision walked away from this with a ton of heat. The Miz and Kit Wilson Attacked Matt MatthewsAn appearance from Matthews (who I'm only familiar with from the few appearances he's made on NXT this year) was advertised for this episode ahead of time, and I can't imagine anyone actually gave a shit. That was how I felt about this segment as well. I've seen way worse segments, and at least it was brief, but this just felt like a waste of time. For the record, Miz and Wilson are SmackDown Superstars, and while I realize that hasn't mattered for years, they only popped up here because this week marks 20 years since Miz made his WWE in-ring debut. World Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker def. Rey Mysterio and Ethan Page in a Triple Threat Match to Qualify for the Men's Money in the Bank Ladder MatchAny one of these guys could have realistically qualified for Money in the Bank, but Breakker made the most sense to be added to the field if he isn't facing Femi in a rematch at the event. This was a good match, though it never quite reached that next gear despite the level of talent involved. We have no idea who else will be taking part in the bout yet Breakker has to be the frontrunner to win the briefcase this year. Sol Ruca def. Lyra Valkyria and Maxxine Dupri in a Triple Threat Match to Qualify for the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder MatchThis was well worked, but much like the other Triple Threat (which was better than this), the action wasn't anything out of the ordinary. Ruca feels like the perfect fit for a Money in the Bank Ladder match, so I'm glad she qualified, and we also got the return of Bayley. Her attack on Valkyria was well done and the crowd was happy to see her, but I'm still skeptical she'll be booked any differently this time around now that she's seemingly re-signed. Joe Hendry def. JD McDonaghIn addition to Hendry losing to Dominik Mysterio at Sunday Night's Main Event, there was a video that aired right before this of Hendry making fun of McDonagh. Personally, I didn't find it funny, but that's always been Hendry's humor. The match was whatever. Hendry received an assist from Je'Von Evans, who lost to The Judgment Day in a tag team bout on last week's show. Evans will be in a Money in the Bank qualifier with Theory and his rival Big Cass next week. Women's World Champion Liv Morgan def. Stephanie VaquerNeedless to say, this was a significant improvement over their WrestleMania match from earlier this year as this received much more time. Granted, it started out slow, but once they picked up the pace, it turned into a quality main event. The interference from Judgment Day (and Becky Lynch attempting to thwart it) was lame yet expected, and I'm sure this is leading to a Triple Threat for the title between Morgan, Vaquer and Lynch. The 946 Set The Usos’ Car on FireThe 946 is apparently the new group name for Royce Keys and OTM. Anyway, this was what we waited all night for? The visual of 946 standing in front of the burning car outside of the arena was cool, but this felt a bit tame for a show-closing angle (why would The Usos and Jacob Fatu care about what was probably a rental?!). On the bright side, The 946 have been presented very well so far and I hope it continues. Overall ShowEven as someone who didn't watch this show live, it still felt like a slog to sit through. I thought it was solid on the whole, and we did get some notable happenings with Bayley and Otis returning as well as two Money in the Bank qualifiers, but the crowd wasn't overly enthusiastic throughout the night and some of the segments and matches missed the mark for me. That said, I'm very much looking forward to next week's episode in Mexico City, if only for the atmosphere.
