NWA Powerrr Review - April 30, 2024

The Kidz def. The Slime Ballz

I believe this was a rematch from several weeks ago and The Kidz won that encounter, too. I honestly can't remember because it's a while and I can't recall there being any follow-up. To their credit, they had a nicely-paced matchup. We have yet to see any actual character development from either team, so the outcome was irrelevant to me, but I would be fine with the feud ending after these two straight wins from The Kidz.

AJ Cazana def. Anthony Andrews in a Last Call Match

The stipulation dictated that the winner could choose someone from the loser's faction to fire from the NWA. Cazana had Joe Cazana and KC Cazana with him and Andrews had Zyon and Austin Idol with him. You'd think Idol would have been the one fired because of how much of a nuisance he's been in the NWA in recent years, but the Cazanas chose to fire Andrews instead, which didn't mean as much because Andrews was barely around before he returned for this feud. Oh well. The match itself was decent, but the finish abrupt.

Knox and Murdoch def. The Southern Six (Kerry Morton and Alex Taylor) in a Steel Cage Match

Most of Knox and Murdoch's matches as a team haven't been terribly exciting, so this was certainly enhanced by the stipulation, especially since they ended up using weapons and incorporated some blood down the stretch. This was a quality cage match with solid work from both teams. I appreciated that the involvement from Ricky Morton, Eric Smalls and Rolando Freeman at ringside was kept to a minimum.

Overall Show

The best part of the episode was easily the video package that aired for BLK Jeez. He must have appeared in front of the live crowd during a dark segment, where he addressed how he's now cancer-free and on the road to recovery after getting shot late last year. Needless to say, the dude's been through a lot, so I'm glad to see he's doing better and in good spirits. The rest of this edition of Powerrr was an above-average effort. I know the NWA stretches out their special shows over the course of a few weeks on Powerrr these days and this was a part of that, but Powerrr really would benefit from featuring more storyline-significant matches like these more often.
