NWA Powerrr Review - August 22, 2026

By Graham "GSM" Matthews

NWA Women's Television Champion Gisele Shaw def. Liviyah

We've seen Liviyah appear on Powerrr before and she's been impressive in the past. Although this was rather random, it was a nice match and they used almost the entire time limit. In fact, Shaw won with only seconds to spare. I don't know when her next storyline will be, but I'm glad she's at least a fighting champion. That would also allow for other women in the division to be showcased in these title matches.

Kratos def. Effy

I appreciate that we got to hear from Effy in a backstage promo last week so his Powerrr debut here didn't come completely out of nowhere. I'm familiar with his work in GCW and he could be a good addition to the roster if he sticks around. That said, there was no way he was winning against Kratos, who was on offense for a majority of the match before going over in decisive fashion.

Carson Bartholomew Drake def. Pretty Boy Smooth in an NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender's Match

I forget whether Smooth is supposed to be a babyface now or not, because he was definitely a heel while aligned with EC3 a while ago. Either way, there was no reason to believe he was winning this match. It was decent, but it was more about the outcome to me. Drake received an assist for the win. I like him being next in line for a world title shot given how he's been built up as of late.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion "Thrillbilly" Silas Mason def. Kerry Morton (Alex Taylor Served as Special Guest Referee)

This delivered as the match I was hoping for from them. They worked well together and Morton didn't look out of place challenging for the top title. Taylor being the special guest ref added an interesting wrinkle, but it's not like he ultimately turned on Mason or anything as I feared he might. This should put an end to their rivalry, but I suppose we'll see if Morton clamors for a rematch.

Overall Show

This felt like a significant edition of Powerrr with three of the four matches having stakes. Granted, nothing super eventful happened, but we got two title defenses and a new number contender to the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship being crowned. Kratos vs. Effy was pretty much what I expected it to be and that's not a bad thing. This was easily a thumbs-up episode that I enjoyed.
