NWA Powerrr Review - December 31, 2024

NWA World Tag Team Champions Knox and Murdoch def. Blunt Force Trauma

At the request of Aron Stevens, Eric Smalls was locked in a shark cage at ringside. As you'd expect, there were plenty of shenanigans down the stretch, including outside interference. Thankfully, Knox and Murdoch retained their titles, so that should the spell the end of this long-running rivalry, or at least I hope so. Most of Blunt Force Trauma's matches are plodding and boring, but honestly, this was decent. Perhaps all of the nonsense helped with that, even though I thought it'd have the opposite effect.

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Thom Latimer vs. EC3 Ended in a No Contest

Much like the opener, this exceeded my expectations. That could be a combination of it being slightly shorter than their other encounters or them working with more of a sense of urgency here, but this may have been their best bout together while it lasted. It definitely felt like EC3 was in heel mode throughout and that was confirmed at the end when a group of masked men attacked Latimer and the referee for him, causing the contest to be thrown out. As long as it's not a second coming of the Control Your Narrative crap, I'm content.

Overall Show

There was a quick tribute to Jax Dane at the beginning of the episode following his shocking passing last week. He was just on Powerrr two weeks ago (in a match that was taped in October to my knowledge). May he rest in peace. Hopefully they do some sort of 10-bell salute at their next taping and air it on Powerrr. Despite the non-finish in the main event, this was a thumbs-up episode for the two title matches to close out the year.
