The Slime Ballz Won the David Crockett Invitational Battle Royal to Become the No. 12 Seed in the Crockett CupAll things considered, this was a pretty good Battle Royal and I appreciated that there was something at stake. It was also smart to have this be the first match to show any potential new viewers with this being the NWA's debut on The Roku Channel because, well, what non-wrestling fan doesn't love a Battle Royal? They kept it short and sweet and Slime Ballz were the right team to win. The Slime Ballz def. Blunt Force Trauma in a Crockett Cup First-Round MatchI liked that Slime Ballz had to immediately compete after winning the Battle Royal because it made them even bigger underdogs here. I fully expected them to lose, so them pulling out the upset win was a pleasant surprise. This told a simple story and was exactly what it needed to be. With how aggressively Blunt Force Trauma have been pushed in the last two years, I have no issue with them being eliminated from the tournament in the first round. Team Exodus Pro def. The Lost (Alex Misery and Crazzy Steve) in a Crockett Cup First-Round MatchEC3 and Pretty Boy Smooth make up Team Exodus Pro. Despite not giving a single shit about Gaagz the Gymp, The Lost is a fine group and Steve is the perfect fit for it. This was a quality contest with the correct team going over yet again. EC3 might be the biggest name in the tourney, so I can certainly see him and Smooth going deep into the bracket. Bryan Idol def. Carson Bartholomew Drake to Win the Vacant NWA Television ChampionshipDrake gave up the Television title to unsuccessfully challenge for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship recently, so I'm glad Idol won the title here, which made for a nice moment. The match didn't get a ton of time, but it was a good main event while it lasted. Drake has become one of the NWA's shining stars in the last year, so I'd like to see him elevated to the world title picture permanently after this. Overall ShowPersonally, I had no issue accessing the show on The Roku Channel. In fact, I was able to access it earlier than it said it was going to air at the 8 p.m. slot, so that was convenient. I actually thought this was a strong debut for Powerrr on the platform. They finally started airing the Crockett Cup event from back in May, the new champion being crowned was notable and the production value of the pre-taped promos (which allowed any potential new viewers to get familiar with some of the roster) was top-notch. The overall presentation was improved and it made for an enjoyable episode.
