NWA Powerrr Review - June 20, 2026

NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion "Thrillbilly" Silas Mason Addressed El Dragon Nihan

Nihan never felt like much of a threat to the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship to begin with, but I appreciate that they devoted a segment at the start of the show to hyping him up and the night's main event. This was more about that match than Mason addressing Kerry Morton, but I actually preferred Nihan being Mason's focus here so the title defense didn't come across like an afterthought.

Kerry Morton def. Vin Parker

Speaking of Morton, he was in action immediately Mason's promo. This wasn't meant to be a competitive contest but rather an opportunity for Morton to pick up a credibility boost. Not that he really needs one, mind you, but giving him some wins before he faces Mason or Alex Taylor certainly won't hurt. This was short, sweet and exactly what it needed to be.

NWA World Women's Champion Tiffany Nieves def. Gina Sais Quoi

The NWA has a tendency to randomly use people without properly introducing them first. Sais Quoi was no exception, and it would have been nice to know a little about her coming into this match. I guess it didn't make much of a difference considering how brief this was. Nieves hit her stuff and beat her pretty quickly. The outcome was never in doubt to begin with, so I'm not complaining.

Terry Yaki def. Hayden Backlund and Jay Lucas in an NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship No. 1 Contender's 3-Way Match; NWA Junior Heavyweight Champion Spencer Slade def. Yaki

The three-way was referred to as "Slade's Submission Challenge" with the winner earning a shot at Slade's title right away. They've done this gimmick several times before with him and Mike Mondo, but there has to be a payoff eventually with one of the challengers winning the championship in shocking fashion. Anyway, Lucas and Yaki are tag team partners, so that added a different dynamic to the three-way, but it was an average outing otherwise. The same can be said for Slade vs. Yaki, though I liked that we heard from Yaki in between the two matches. Wrecking Ball Legursky interrupted Aron Stevens' post-match promo and expressed interest in joining his faction.

For a hoss fight, this was solid. As I mentioned earlier, I never expected Nihan to dethrone Mason, but he was a decent one-off challenger for him and I thought they worked well enough together. My only nitpick was that it wasn't given much time to feel like a world championship main event. It didn't need to be 30 minutes or anything, but a few more minutes would have helped.

Overall Show

We got three  title matches this week, but none of them were high profile in the slightest. I'll take that over no championship matches, but they could have done a better job of making them more important. On the whole, it was good edition of Powerrr, even if it wasn't exactly eventful. It was announced that The Country Gentlemen will defend the NWA World Tag Team Championship on next week's episode, but the opponents weren't named.
